Yep,

That is a set of them and this is the same seller in the article in the below link.

I have attached some email messages between myself and the seller. She seems honest enough... Like Gene stated, they would be the highest risk for the newer collector.

She is honest enough as I have contacted her also. What really worries me is the next guy. The engineers general's are not as close as the one I posted earlier. (All from the same person). With enough artificial aging, I am afraid we will see these fooling people.

That was my reason for contacting her for the information as well as the detailed photos. I definately want people to be aware so they will be identified as "commonly known fakes".

Thanks Paul. That's what I thought too. But, in just the past month, I've learned quite a lot about just how much fake and reproduction stuff there is out there. It's scary. I've slowed way down on buying anything anymore unless I check it out very carefully.

Look good to me also, though I see a slight diff in the gulls, oak leaves and the tieoff on the braid which would make me wonder about being a matched set.

I agree. I wondered about that too. I had found another set that were being sold as a matched set when they obviously weren't. But the diff on these was so slight that I thought they had a good chance of being what they were presented as.

Hi Larry,

I do the see differences you mentioned, yet I can still see them as a "matched set". They were definately made by the same maker. These LW tabs were hand made... so I would think it would be very difficult if not impossible to make perfectly matching pieces.

They are very slight differences, and would not detract from a set, I jsut don't see a person tying off the braid ion the rear in 2 different fashions. I would have to say I am nitpicking more than anything

Next... seems as if the looser fibers are a bit singed the "roughed up".

Same seller, same .95 cent start and 99 dollar buy it now. These pre 31Dec39 tabs are a bit scary.

The facing material(strange corderoy) seems to be the same type as on the Flight Oberst tabs. The addition of the strange aging on the reverse seems odd to me. I would love some more experienced input on these.

These look really good. The only thing I see right off hand is that they seem longer (height wise) than a normal tab or thinner.
