landsknechte
Hi, I have bought recently this beauty but I don't know all the ribbons. Thanks for your help. As soon as I receive it I will post better scans.ChristopheFYI, you might want to check out this thread discussing your bar:http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3260--Chris
Paul R
I know that medals are not the main topic of this thread yet, if anyone has any Austrian medal bars or singles, let us see them as well. I do not have any medal bars, but this is what I do have for medals... Edited November 20, 2005 by Paul Reck

Guest Rick Research
The 1908 Franz Joseph Jubilee Cross came on different ribbons for military or civil service recipients. Yours is incorrectly on a bravery ribbon, but that may help out-- looks like the Signum Laudis and Karl Small Silver Bravery Medals are on reproduction ribbons. the colors and "shine" don't look right, and I'm guessing those will flare bright electric blue under a blacklight. The Mint mark on silver bravery medals is on the side rim at about where the "H" in "BOH." is-- normally a tiny "A" in a circle for Vienna. I've never seen one made in Budapest.

Jason
I've finally gotten around to photographing this one - had this for about 10 years, I think from memory it cost me something like $10 Australian at a local militaria fair.cheers Jason

Jason
Thanks Paul! I'm pretty much stuck on what the second ribbon might be, all the rest are "in the bag"! Does anyone have any ideas?? cheers Jason
Paul R
From what I have learned, it could be one of a whole array of possiblities. What is the last ribbon on the bar?Paul
Bob Hunter
I have never been able to warm up to Austrian ribbon or medal bars. I guess it is due to the repetitive use of the colors red and white which gives the bars a rather "sameness" kind of appearance. Anyway, here's my offering... Stogieman
3 Wounds, not 4...... cannot count the edge stripes on Jason's ribbon bar, only the center. Best guess is Signum Laudis in Bronze
Stogieman
PS: Paul, last ribbon on Jason's Bar is a somewhat faded Tyrol Service Medal
Paul R
Thanks Rick! I was thinking that every grey stripe was a wound... You mentioned that you once saw a five wound medal ribbon... how did all of the bars fit?!Paul

Paul R
My God... 5 wounds!!! Wow! I would not want to be the soldier who received this award!!!! Is this the biggest you have seen? Thank you for posting this medal. After 1935, would this have turned into a gold wound badge or did the Austrians keep their Wound Medals?Thank you again for posting this medal Dave!BTW Bob,Thank you for posting your medal and ribbon bar set! You are right. They do have a bit of repetition(especially in the ribbon bars). I dont know why they have such an appeal to me as they are not that attactive or colorful.RegardsPaul
