If someone is going to fake a medal, you want to make the copy as similar to known originals as possible...not make them stand out. And your not going to add detail like the crown relief in cross.

I was so center on the top crown, that I don't have seen the upper arm crown... :cheers:

Eric Stahlhut Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) could this be a case where the medal in question is a medal that has been upgraded into cross grade by being cut, and unfortunately with an incorrect non-meiningen top crown added? that top crown really bugs me. it's totally wrong for a meiningen.if it turns out to be a variant, awesome score! Tom Y Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Eric has a good point and looking at it again the crown is a bit angled. I'd suggest you ask for a closeup of the back and an angled shot of the inside edges.
