Claudius Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 A wonderful little gem. The obverse with its crisp metal lettering and the reserve with its delicate gold script dates and coat of arms. It's hard to choose which side to show. Great order. I think it would look really nice next to its little brother -if you would ever part with it. ;)
pinpon590 Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Close up of the crown : Size = 64,3mm (with crown) x 40mm Weight = 19,41g Thank you ! Edited May 9, 2011 by pinpon590

Deruelle Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Salut Jean-Baptiste, What an incredible order you have found. Very nice indeed. There is only 248 crosses awarded per Beyreiß. Congrats Christophe
pinpon590 Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 Thank you ! I was still reading the "F. Beyreiss Der Hausordden und die tragbaren Ehrenzeichen des Grossherzogtums Oldenburg" and have found same numbers... I didn't realize that so few were awarded... I'm very happy to have it ! And with a perfect condition ! :jumping: :jumping:
Deruelle Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Maybe one day you will find a box for this cross. I hope you will find one one day. Christophe
Wild Card Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 It's hard to choose which side to show. /quote] Absolutely! This is one of those cases where the reverse is so much more attractive than the obverse. Congratulations on such a rare and beautiful decoration. Wild Card

Hello pinpon590; It wasn't a serious offer to purchase it. Just expressing how much I like it. Now that I see the rest of your collection next to it -I wouldn't want to break up the Oldenburg theme! Please carry on the theme! I look forward to seeing your next acquisition.
TacHel Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 What can I say except... WOW!! Congrats on an awesome acquisition!
