Deruelle
Hi everybody, I’m proud to show you my new Saxon treasure. I have in my collection box for knight cross 1st class with X of Merit order of Saxe. Now the box is not empty. I have received this one yesterday. Only 422 crosses 1st class with X were awarded during WW1. Roth has found 416 names (400 crosses with X and 16 X to knight cross 1st class). I have found 6 more names. Enjoy with it. My cross is a pure textbook exemplar. don't hesitate to show yours. I'm particulary interrested to see hallmark if some exist on this cross. palencia
Congratulations, a lovely and scarce piece. Here's my SV3aX and SV3bX: The SV3bX shows a "R" mark in the lower arm (Roessner), the SV3aX it's unmarked (probably a G.H.Osang piece) Edited June 12, 2012 by palencia
Deruelle
Thanks all for your comments. @Jean-Baptiste, yes you are right the SV3aX is larger than the second class. here the most interresting thing is the fact that all of these crosses are with their box. I have not seen often the box for SV3aX. Christophe

Signalcorps45
Hello to all, I have the Saxon Merit Order on this bar listed as a 2nd class. But after seeing the pics in this thread I am not sure. Can someone please confirm what I have? Thank you Dean

palencia
I think that this decoration is currently underpriced: the current market price is similar to a HOHX (more than 8000 awards) I would like to know how many of the 422 awarded "survived" currently..... of course, it is impossible to know Edited June 13, 2012 by palencia
pinpon590
The only one I possess is the 2nd class knight cross, with X... Unfortunately, without the box... This exemplar is stamped "R" on the low arm (Roessner)...
M Hunter
@Christophe, What a truly beautiful Saxon Order. It is good/helpful to see the 1st and 2nd class posted side by side. @Dean, I really like your medal bar! Best wishes Matt
Beau Newman
Here is the 2nd Class in a group. The Merit Order is a Scharffenburg piece simply marked "S" in the crook of the edge of the bottom arm. It includes the matching ribbon bar - he apparently never got around to adding the WWII MVK to his group.
