drspeck Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Hi all, What is your opinion about these two bars? Regards, Peter.
Deruelle Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 NIce ribbon bars, the first one is a typical Godet ribbon bar. Christophe
saschaw Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Good ones, but I'm not seeing anything Godet-ish on the first, bigger one? The second one - used to be mine - is by Godet in my humble opinion.
M Hunter Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Peter These are two impressive ribbon bars. Best wishes Matt
drspeck Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) Thanks, I'm still learning, but the feedback I get from the forum is finally paying dividend Peter These are two impressive ribbon bars. Best wishes Matt Edited August 19, 2012 by drspeck
drspeck Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) There's a similar wreath device in the collectors image gallery with the ribbon bar devices gallery of RR. See: http://gmic.co.uk/in...t-monstrosity/. According to Rick this device can only be attributed to Godet... Good ones, but I'm not seeing anything Godet-ish on the first, bigger one? drspeck Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Paul, sounds inetersting. On which of the medals would the identification be possible? The first bar can be identified.
Paul C Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Paul, sounds inetersting. On which of the medals would the identification be possible? The award rolls are available for the Baden, Bavarian and SMK ribbons. The EK is a given. Award rolls for the AK, LA and what looks like an HT are not available. It would take some time and work but I could probable ID it.
drspeck Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 Paul, if you could help me out with that, that would be great The award rolls are available for the Baden, Bavarian and SMK ribbons. The EK is a given. Award rolls for the AK, LA and what looks like an HT are not available. It would take some time and work but I could probable ID it.
drspeck Posted September 7, 2012 Author Posted September 7, 2012 New information has surfaced thanks to Paul and Daniel Krause The ribbon bar (the first one) belonged to OTLaD Herbert Sander. In 1914 he was a RM with HR 11 and the ranklist shows him with the RAO4 and ÖEK3. During the war he was on the staff of KD 2 as an adjutant which makes sense as he has awards from many different German states. Attached are 2 images that were sent to me by Paul (from Daniel). The ribbon bar is his wartime ribbon bar before he was awarded the white falcon. The group of Sander was sold many years ago and must have been broken up after. The pictures confirm the identification. Does anyone know what happened to his other pieces? Regards, Peter
Stogieman Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Nice story, nice group effort and nice bars!
M Hunter Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Great work on behalf of Paul and Daniel and a stunning group. I assume Oberleutnant Sander played some role in WW2 as the ribbon bar has the EK2 Spagne? Best wishes Matt
