Chip Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Chris, If I had any private purchase tunics, I would be happy to trade you for issue ones.

Chris Boonzaier Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 had Hauptmann d. Res. Hawickhorst out again today.... 1
Jeff Noll Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Here is my Bavarian Hauptmann's tunic which belonged to Franz Geßsslein He was part of the 9th Bayerisches Infanterie-Regiment for the duration of the war. He is well documented in period Rank Lists and the Bavarian Honor Book. He was promoted Leutnant 27 February 1896, Oberleutnant 08 March 1905, Hauptmann 03 March 1911, and Major 14 December 1917. This bluse was presumably his last before promotion as tailor label is dated 1917. His promotion to Major would have necessitated replacement of the present boards. The bluse’s tailor was located in Würtzburg and Franz Geßlein's 9th Bavarian Infantry Regiment also garrisoned in Würtzburg. He survived the war and was still alive in 1926. The tunic is in wonderful condition. I especially like the Bavarian ribbon around the collar. 1
Chris Boonzaier Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Fantastic Bluse Jeff!!!!! the 9th is the closest Infantry Regiment to where I live and quite a few people from the village where I live served in the regiment!
Ralph H765 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Jeff, this Officer Franz Geßlein was a distant relative of mine. He died 1949 in Munich. I have a picture of him in (a different) uniform from 1908. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share it. Ralph (not a club member)/ Germany
ccj Posted September 12, 2022 Author Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) That’s a wonderful example of an enlisted tunic. Edited September 12, 2022 by ccj 1
Jeff Noll Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Just when you least expect it someone reaches out from another country to make your day. Ralph765 contacted me and provided a scanned photograph of his great Uncle Franz Geßlein. The photograph was taken in 1908. 1

ccj Posted December 22, 2022 Author Posted December 22, 2022 Nice having named items. It’s rare to be able to get much detail on ID’d items from my experience. I really like the Bavarian Bluse with the Borte. My favorite at the moment is the tunic. I’ve admired it since a fellow forum member showed it to me when he owned it. 2
