Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Here is a nice group... the first one is pretty rare I think....
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Then the Prussian war service cross
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Then a Brunswick letter authorising him to wear it...
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 The Prussian war service cross was supposed to slow down the award of White ribboned EK, but he did enough to get that as well... telex informing him he is getting it...
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 The man himself.... He was with the Luftschutz so i assume that is the uniform....
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Suicide with gunshot wound to the head in 1943....
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 There is alao a Luftschutz Medal 2nd class doc i will probably end up buying.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) I posted his entries from the 1914 and 1918 Prussian Hof- und Staats Handbücher in your separate Silesian Eagle thread, having found that first. INCREDIBLE GROUP... WEIRD CAREER...BiZARRE ENDING to the story!!!!!!!! Things I have never seen before: 1) the universal format "dog license" EK2w Urkunde--exactly like that found for the Krieghilfsdienstkreu normally 2) BRUNSWICK permission to wear Prussian KHDK... to a guy in Posen, in PRUSSIAN civil service, and at Uni Königsberg???? 3) Those uniforms (worth posting that over in 3rd Reich uniforms section) 4) the tragic ending at age 62. perhaps explainable by his "80 year old" photo that must have been circa 1934/35. I've never seen a better WW1 noncombatant group, you lucky devil, you. BTW, I too am legally available for adoption. Edited August 3, 2013 by Rick Research
Bernhard H.Holst Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Hello Chris: Thank you for showing this group. A very tragic ending indeed. The death certificate lists the requirement for elaboration on the reverse of the certificate when the cause of death is as given. I wonder what is recorded there. Bernhard H. Holst
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Ricks additions here... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/59324-schlesischer-adler-silesian-eagle-documents/

Holst Hi, there was nothing written on the flip side unfortunately.
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 1) the universal format "dog license" EK2w Urkunde--exactly like that found for the Krieghilfsdienstkreu normally Hi, it is the most comman white ribboned cross doc. I have 2-3 more of them. best Chris
Guest Rick Research Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Well then it's common because YOU have them all. Mine don't.
M Hunter Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Chris, What an impressive grouping but such a tragic end to a life! I hope you are able to get the Luftschutz document also, to keep the group complete. Best wishes Matt
Paul R Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 That is a super grouping Chris! I have never before seen a NC EK2 document before. The WW2 era photo is interesting. IT does not look like any LS insignia configuration I have seen before. I will have to break out the Littlejohn book tonight. It reminds me of a prison service tunic. You did really well. Thanks for sharing.
turtle Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Quite extraordinary grouping regarding his awards and his death! I really wonder, why he shot himself? It would be interesting to know how he supported the Selbstschutz Schlesien to be awarded the Schlesischen Adler!
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Chris, What an impressive grouping but such a tragic end to a life! Matt It is in fact my "second suicide" :-( http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/49820-lt-chambeau/?hl=chambeau
Paul R Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 What is he wearing in his buttonhole? It is not a NC EK2.
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 OK... but this is just because I am a good guy... I went and bought the WW2 stuff as well.... overpriced compared to what the WW1 stuff cost me.....
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 Which rational person would pay money for this! But I am a group bringer together, not destroyer!
Guest Rick Research Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Got to do it--otherwsie it's like tearing pages out of a book! Though of course you could have just saved the images of such excitin' stuff as receipt for RM 10.40 to the WHW! (Anybody actually COMPETING bids for stuff like THAT? "Because"... it has a swastika?
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 What is he wearing in his buttonhole? It is not a NC EK2. Good question... looks like a one colur ribbon....
dond Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 It looks like the ribbon to his Brunswick KVK (NC). If you look hard you can see the lower blue stripe.
