Lukasz Gaszewski
[...] Kutuzov 1st class 1 [...] The Order of Kutuzov 1st Class was awarded last time in 1981 and 1982 to 8 persons. Who obtained it for Afghanistan?
JapanX
Most likely Army general Varennikov http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C2%E0%F0%E5%ED%ED%E8%EA%EE%E2,_%C2%E0%EB%E5%ED%F2%E8%ED_%C8%E2%E0%ED%EE%E2%E8%F7
Ferdinand
The one to Boris Tkach was probably an Afghanistan award too, but without knowing the exact award date we can't be sure.
JapanX
Yes, commander of 40th army in 1980-1982 is another possibility http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D2%EA%E0%F7,_%C1%EE%F0%E8%F1_%C8%E2%E0%ED%EE%E2%E8%F7
Lukasz Gaszewski
Thank you JapanX and Ferdinand for response. Boris Tkach would be more logical, as he had served in Afghanistan, although we shall not know until we see what was inside the application for his order. At least we know that the Order of Suvorov went to marshal Sergey Sokolov, as he was the only recipient in 1982. BTW: I wonder if he ever set foot on the Afghan soil.
