danio Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Hi All, This is an order of red star (#608216) made by Germany for their spies. Could anyone give me some extra links about this order please. English version would be great! Any other stories about awarding red star in WW2 are welcome. Thank you all very much. Dan Edited June 11, 2014 by danio
Rogi Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Wow, it looks real good quality would definatley fool me :D
NavyFCO Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 It's quite odd...why would they go through all the effort to create it with the maker mark and serial number? The Germans had access to thousands of originals...
Chris Boonzaier Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 It's quite odd...why would they go through all the effort to create it with the maker mark and serial number? The Germans had access to thousands of originals... Ditto, unless it has a built in Cyanide pill and mini radio transmiter...
Ferdinand Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Strekalov and Durov's book about the Order of the Red Star (Orden Krasnoi Zvezdy: Istoria uchrezhdenia nagrady I evolyutsia ordenskogo znaka. Kavalery ordena, 2008) has some information and a few great pictures about these German-made Red Star copies, but it's in Russian of course.
JapanX Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 This is an order of red star (#608216) made by Germany for their spies. Yes, this is indeed RS made by Abver. Obverse
JapanX Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Another example of such Red Star made by Abver Obverse
JapanX Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 During war Abver manufactured for its agents orders of Lenin, RS, medals "For Bravery", "For Military Merit", "For the Defence of Stalingrad". Most likely this is not the full list. In July 1944 SMERSH even issued special brochure "Материалы по распознаванию поддельных орденов и медалей СССР ..." This is how illustration from this brochure looks like
JapanX Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Order of Lenin was manufactured in gilded silver. RS in silvered alloy.
JapanX Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Here comes a short article about these orders from St.Petersburg Collector Edited June 12, 2014 by JapanX
