Erik Krogh
Tradition badge for U-237. I just picked this up yesterday at our LA County twice-yearly militaria show. The seller is a well-known KM collector who said he originally purchased the badge still sewn on to a cap, but the cap was so moth-eaten that he had to throw it away. Fortunately, the badge survived...

Erik Krogh
Possibly U-858Another great tradition badge, Fran?ois! I have a grouping from a U.S. sailor on the destroyer Escort USS Pillsbury who participated in U-858's surrender (as well as the U-505 capture and the sinking of U-515). Here is link to my posting of this group with photos and newspaper clippings of U-858's surrender. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=22631Here are some pictures of the tradition badge in wear from my grouping. The first is a detail shot (sorry it's blurry - that is how the photo is) with the U-858 badge and another tradition badge (perhaps U-154 or U-554) Edited June 2, 2008 by Erik Krogh
Erik Krogh
Possibly U-858Here is as good a close-up as I could get on this group of U-858 crewmen wearing the cap badge. Looks like everyone had a tradition badge attached to their cap...

I purchased this from Detlev Niemann several years back and I believe it to be a period-made cap badge mounted on a plaque.Best Regards,Erik Edited December 7, 2008 by Erik Krogh
Erik Krogh
Here's a tradition badge for U-2538, a Type XXI boat. Although there is no provenance on this badge, it matches the description given by Oblt. Heinrich Klapdor in Georg H?gel's book (page 177).
