Bob
Visited the highly recommend National Museum of Military History in Sofia - especially rich in uniforms and orders/medals - and saw among many other impressive groups the following one. Nice group, incl of course the SB order!
Bob
Note, the museum contains a separate section with decorations given to former Bulgarian heads of state. Very very impressive! It also has a room which documents all Bulgarian ODM - also impressive!Outside it also has a display of tanks, fighter jets, etc.Overall a very pleasurable museum. Lukasz Gaszewski
God loves Trinity, as the Russians say. Three Stars of Hero (one of labour I think), three Georgi Dimitrovs, three Lenins, three Karl-Marxes...Stunning...

Bob
Sure, about to go on vacation but give me 1-2 weeks and I'll be loading lots more pics. The Zhivkov display... there were at least 10-20 more of those with same caliber of awards. Really a great museum and Sofia is a charming city so recommend it for a long weekend trip.
Bob
Don't have much time so will just dump some pics in - focused on pics with lots of medals although the museum has a lot more (and barely no visitors!)
utopis
Thank you for the great pictures. I've heard about that museum but I had no idea that there is actually that much on display.
Bob
These pics were of one floor in one wing. There much much more - in particular displays with uniforms and assorted items. Also outside all kinds of soviet era tanks etc.

922F
This museum constantly improves in terms of facilities, displays and information resources. The staff, unfailingly knowledgeable, helpful to visitors, and polite, really appear to enjoy their work. I first visited it in 1980 when housed in an old barracks closer to the city center. Even then, it was of remarkable quality. Enhanced presentation, not to mention the greatly increased range of materials on display, really sets a standard for similar exhibitions. Other Eastern European military museums, like the National Military Museum (Muzeul Militar Naţional) at 125-127 Mircea Vulcănescu St., Bucharest, Romania, offer further outstanding examples of the museological art.
