Chris Boonzaier Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I just picked up a Militärpass..... Could it be an interesting one? :_)
Dansson Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 You must be joking? You got both Fredinand Schörners Militärpass and his ring? Is his Pour le Merite entered in it? I'd love to see more, either in private or in public! Amazing! Wow! Wow! Wow! Congratulations Chris, this is by far the best Militärpass I have ever seen!
Chris Boonzaier Posted July 16, 2017 Author Posted July 16, 2017 Hi, The page with the awards is a seperate sheet he filled out and signed in 1920, the Militärpass goes up to the end of 1915, but has the EK1, EK2, Bavarian MVO4th class with swords and the Austrian Militär Verdienstkreuz in it, unfortunately the PLM was not entered but officially the Militärpass was no longer filled out after he was promoted to LT d, Res.
spolei Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 wow, that is a wonderful grouping. Congretulations Will you show us the ring in better pictures?
spolei Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 (edited) The award on the third position would be the medal of the golden wedding of King Ludwig III. Thanks for the beautiful pictures Edited July 16, 2017 by spolei
The Prussian Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Unbelievable! With that items you´ll rise up into the collectors nirvana! Congrats, mate! But in Kassel that will cost you a beer!!!!!!!!!
Claudius Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 18 hours ago, Chris Boonzaier said: OMG....Are you kidding me?!?!? "Pour le Merite 17.12.1917" Outstanding!
The Prussian Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Do we know, why we read: PlM Dec. 17, 1917, and in all sources I know the date was Dec. 5, 1917? I´m not a medal specialist, so please excuse my question.
Chris Boonzaier Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 Maybe the award was handed over on the 17th of December? The Tagesbefehl confirming the award was the 9th of December
Chris Boonzaier Posted July 17, 2017 Author Posted July 17, 2017 Hi, there was an Abschrift from the III Batl. Leib regt Tagesbefehl dated 9th of december announcing it. In his records on Ancestry he has the 17th as the award date. I assume it was approved the 5th, announced the 9th and the ceremony on the 17th?
The Prussian Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) Ah, ok. The originals will be right! Then he will recieved it th 17th. AKO: 5th Tagesbefehel: 9th recieved: 17th bureaucracy... Edited July 17, 2017 by The Prussian
The Prussian Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Here is a little bit about his unit. Since june 1919 the LIR became 1.bayer. RW-Schützen-Regiment 41 München (I. and III.Btl. München, II.Btl. Rosenheim) In october 1919 it became: RW-Schützen-Regiment 41 München (I.Btl. München, II.Btl. Passau, III.(Jäger) Btl.Landshut Later: 19.(bayer.) Inf.Rgt. München (I.Btl. München, II.Btl. Augsburg, III.Btl. Kempten and Lindau, Ers.Btl. Landshut Note that he wrote: Bayer. Jäger-Bataillon 41 What he means is: III.(Jäger) Btl./Reichswehr-Schützen-Regiment 41
Chip Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I think this is the sleeve insignia for the RW-Schützen-Regiment 41.
The Prussian Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Absolutley right ,Chip! Great patch! Worn since may 1919
