März 1913 Charakter als Generalleutnant 2 hours ago, Glenn J said: Here is a wartime portrait of Graf Roedern. Regards Glenn Thank you, Glenn! But I do have a small question: Could he have changed so much in those 7 to 8 years (well maybe up to 14 years) between Oberst and Generalleutnant in WW I? If so, he received EK II and I in WW I. Maybe some other awards? Thank you! Edited May 9, 2021 by Deutschritter
Deutschritter Posted May 9, 2021 Author Posted May 9, 2021 Sadly, I could not find GL Graf von Roedern in the Dienstaltersliste of 1918, maybe, because Landwehr is not included? https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.$b635150&view=1up&seq=11&q1=roedern
Deutschritter Posted May 9, 2021 Author Posted May 9, 2021 Imperial Surf & Turf sounds great ... but I have started with singular Generals ... but maybe one day ... what a great idea! 1

Glenn J Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 He certainly did not age well! He is listed in the “Ehrenranglste” as a reemployed (wiederverwendete) Generalleutnant as the former Brigade commander of 1. Garde-Kavallerie-Brigade. As far as I can ascertain no other general officer of that rank and name served in WW1. He received the swords to his already held RAO2E in 1916. Regards Glenn 1
Deutschritter Posted May 10, 2021 Author Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) Thank you, Glenn! Would you please tell me on what page of the Ehrenrangliste, I have been searching in vain! About the promotion to Major, maybe 1.6.1897 ohne Patent (ernannt) and 26.5.1898 mit Patent? Ehrenrangliste: https://sbc.org.pl/Content/370076/rl-1914-02-0001.pdf Edited May 10, 2021 by Deutschritter
Glenn J Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 You will find him on page 696, 3rd from the bottom of the right hand column. I will check his promotions in the morning. Regards Glenn 1
laurentius Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 If I'm not mistaken Claudio's brother Mario did a gouache painting of Von Roedern 1
ccj Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 It looks like the same man to me. I’m always amazed by the expertise displayed on the forums.
