cosinus Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 hello guys, I just talked to my friend who was awarded by all 3 classes of Crab... He told me an interesting story: he was awarded by the 1 class with #18. A year after he was called to return back the order. A few weeks after he was called to come to The Kremlin and then Brezhnev awarded him once more but ... by another number. He could not find differences between old and new one or simply did not recognize them.He says #1 stayed in Brezhnev's collection.Unfortunately I still have no time to visit him and make true pictures of original 1 class. I do hope in autumn I would do it and share with you, my friends... regards, Dima

cosinus Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Awarded all three Classes Dare I ask what they were awarded for?Order of VictoryHe always jokes when people ask this... He says his unit was the best one - a winner of the socialistic competition of the year when first 3 class crabs came. And he was one of the first awarded. But... when the 2 class came there was an order to award only those who got the 3 class and had longest time after that... What happened when the 1 class came??? Excatly the same order!!! - that is his story and I do not change a single word!!! regards, Dima

cosinus Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Dima, what is the name of your friend?Andrey, unfortunately I cannot disclose his name now and maybe in the future. He has been attcked so many times last years by Russian stupid stubborn impudent rude *uck*** dealers that he does not want to attract more attention. I also incline to think I would hide numbers on photos. If even you understand who I mean please keep silence! As for photos I would do it in details and share... If you want to know more pls contact me: kosintsev@yandex.ruSpokoinoy nochi , Dima

cosinus Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Other crabs' news: Now there is a new wave of "not-given" - not-awarded 3d cl crabs in Russia. In original matching-numbered boxes with numbers > 138***. By the way, the same with orders for Personal Courage with #>77**.Dima
Riley1965 Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 Dima, You should be very proud of your friend!! I understand his reluctance to be revealed. Doc

cosinus Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 (edited) Do you know of the other number ranges of Homeland 3rds that were not issued? From what I understand, there was a vast range somewhere in the 70000-80000 range that wasn't awarded, yet have made it out into the collector's world. I have heard the same for the 90000 range. Also, there's one dealer I know who was actually offered 3000 of them in the 120000 range, but he only bought 1000 of them... they were all unissued as well. (They were actually in crates in parts, and he was given the "official" tools to assemble them! I've tried to buy the tools he was given, but no luck so far...) Any help would be appreciated!DaveAs for exact numbers I think MONDVOR knows much more than I do . I guess today 70000 (50%) are issued and 70000 (another 50%) are unissued. The most "popular" numbers at the market today 100000-112000, 137000-139000. The last range is packed in original boxes with printed numbers and they definitely mint-made ones. A few weeks ago I got information that there was a crab #1408**. That would be the highest number I have met if I am lucky enough to buy it... I just bought 139*** to observe and 80000 (!!!) for fun ...Dima Edited July 28, 2006 by cosinus
Mondvor Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 The highest number of "Crab" that I oserved was 140165 (here is a picture). If anyone have seen bigger number, please post an image.
Mondvor Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 The highest number I've seen with the orderbook (so it was issued) was 106081. I think that this orderbook is authentic, however I can not prove that. Anyway, take a look and tell me your opinions.

I think that this orderbook is authentic, however I can not prove that. Anyway, take a look and tell me your opinions. Unfortunately, MONDVOR, I cannot prove it either... I was offered a month ago empty order books, I would try to restore the contact and buy one. If we know what empty books' serial numbers were sold we would have some judgement. I have seen 105*** Crab with filled Order Book and I was sure the book is not a fake but when it was filled is difficult to say... We cannot be sure before it is confirmed by archives...Dima

Mondvor Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Dima, there is no reason to buy the blank orderbook to find its serial number. There were so many unissued late orderbooks (both with Menteshashvili and Gorbachev signatures) that tracking any serial number borders doesn't make sense. Unissued orderbooks were in every ten thousands of numbers. So there was no standart pattern which numbers belong to blank books and which ones belong to issued documents. You are absolutely right that the only way to prove that order was issued is not the presence of the document, but official paper from Soviet Army military archive in Podolsk (or Naval archive in Gatchina).
