Wild Card Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Gentlemen,While we are on the subject of Partisan meals, I just have to share this picture of Dimitri Timofeevich Teterichev (back row, 2nd from left), commander of the ?Trailblazer? Partisan Detachment with some of his comrades. This strikes me as a coup by the guys down at central casting.Best wishes,Wild Card
NavyFCO Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Here's a cool set, with the Partisan doc included in the back of the book! Unfortunately, I was never able to get complete research for him... The stuff wasn't classified, it just didn't exist in the archives!
Paul R Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Dave and Wild Bill,Your groupings are awesome!! I have never seen a bar with BOTH classes of the Partisan medal! The photo is awesome! I bet not many people would have posed for a photo(the group photo) back then... just imagine if it had fallen into the wrong hands!

Dolf Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) This 1st Class Medal came with this temporary Doc, discussed on another Forum. Here is the info I got from those experts:Awarded to Janus Janovich Richter. Issued by the Latvian Partisan Movement HQ, attesting that Janus J. Richter fought in the partisan movement in Latvia, but not specifically authorizing a medal's awarding. What do you think about this one, Rick?Dolf Edited May 22, 2006 by Dolf

order_of_victory Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 ReverseBTW does any one have any suggesions why these are full scratches Order of Victory
JimZ Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 (edited) OOV, pls post better pics as the glare and focus on the obverse prevent any form of serious opinion. Without better pics I'd not be much of a fan of these medals Re scratches, it is sometimes a form of artificial ageing.... but it is hard to make out if these are just dings or heavier scratches.Jim Edited February 12, 2007 by JimZ
order_of_victory Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Heres a better shot of the 2nd Class Order of Victory
Bryan Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I am no expert, but I have the feeling that both are reproductions. The details are not crisp enough. Maybe, somebody can help you more than me.
Wild Card Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Hi Order of Victory, I?m sorry, but I really do not feel comfortable with this medal (post #46). In doing a side by side comparison with the one in post #36, for starters, I find the following:1. The upper line of Stalin?s mustache does not curve downward enough and the end does not really come to a point.2. The detail of Stalin?s collar does not match well. The left part (as you look at it) is pretty much a pointed triangle and there is virtually no defined upper edge.3. The stars at the ends of the banner along the bottom of post #46 are considerably larger and softer.4. The lettering along the rim approaches being of a different font - compare the ?e? and ?c? at twelve o?clock.I hope that I am wrong; it wouldn?t be the first time -Best wishes,Wild Card
Sergei Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 (edited) OoV,I have been through this rigmarole a couple of times asking people to make a call based on scans, photos and weight and size. Hard work. In the end I was lucky enough to pick up a definitely genuine 2nd class and a 1st class which the experts accepted reluctantly after I bombarded another forum with a dozen images (the verdict was along the lines 'agh, just go away'). If you wish I could email high-res scans of what I've got for comparison. Stalin's collar, Lenin's tie, the way the lettering looks jointed, some kind of rectangle just above Lenin's forehead in the 1st class, folds in the ribbon on the left - all this could be a scanning effect or a sign of casting. I do not remember what Stalin's moustache is supposed to be doing but I think there were two legit variations. The connecting link is cut - means anything? I don't know. Can you measure them? Sergei PS Just found a picture I had, the one on the left is mine, the one on the right is definitely genuine. Hope this helps. Edited February 12, 2007 by Sergei
