    Hi gentlemens !

What to think about this one ?

She's sold as a small gold medal (but with a diameter of 38 mm, therefore the size of the large gold medal...). Wrong description...

    No weight known...

I am struck by the graphics of the medal itself, the small border on the obverse and reverse, the typography used for the inscription "FUR VERDIENST"...

What do you think about it ?

    Greetings !

    no original not genuine.
No R M - The letters next to the collar (stamp cutter Rudolf Mayer)
    The gilding is modern.
The suspension is wrong, should be a hanger.

This is what a genuine medal should look like

I'm in two minds about this medal. I disagree that it is not original simply because it misses the mark of Rudolf Mayer or because of the suspension. There are plenty (albeit the silver grade) of medals made as Spangenstücke with a useful ring rather than the nasty and difficult hanger.

However, given the uneven gilding and some sloppy details overall I would say that this is not a period-piece, whether awarded or purchased. Especially the variation in thickness of the brim on the reverse of the medal is troubling for me. I wouldn't go so far as saying it is fake, but I would surely not buy it for my collection.

Here is a piece of mine, the bigger gold grade made of gilded non-precious metal (it has the little fly stamp at the bottom).

There is no doubt that this medal is not an original award piece.
Not a small or large gold medal.
There are no original pieces without RM.
Not because of the suspension, which was often modified to make it easier to mount on the clasp.
At best it is a collector's item or a post-war production.
But what does this mean in reverse? A copy
    I wouldn't want it.
