    8. Very nice portrait (RR will like that ribbon bar) Oberstabsveterinär Dr. Philipp Nickl was KIA on September 11, 1944. He is laid to rest at the German war cemetery in Ysselsteyn, Netherlands. Grave location: Block W, Row 7 Grave 164
    9. The family is originally from Sweden, moved in the mid 1700s to Prussia (Brandenburg and Pommern) from: Deutscher Adelslexikon
    10. This is what I found: There are two Officers by the name of Kuylenstjerna in the 1865 Rangliste. One a Hauptmann in an Artillerie-Regiment and the other a Rittmeister in the Kavallerie. Here is the Rittmeister

    14. The Artillery Lieutenant Franz Marc was killed during a reconnaissance ride. A grenade fragment hit him at the temple. His Bavarian Artillery Regiment was stationed at Woëvre-Ebene (perhaps this clue let us identify the Regiment)

Murphy The Germans had used camouflage (Tarnung) in early 1916, employing expressionist painter Franz Marc to create nets and canvases to conceal German artillery at the battle of Verdun.
