    1. Thank you Mike! No, not the same person nor the are they related but they served in the same Regiment. Friedrich Franz von Unruh listed in the 1914 Rangliste was a Hauptmann in 1917. Interestingly, both Friedrich Franz von Unruh and the above Johannes (Hans) Unruh (no nobility) became writers after the war. Here is a link to von Unruh: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Franz_von_Unruh
    2. Beautiful document It is a free passage letter for Johann-Georg Haescheke, an ensign in captain von Schwerdtner's company of Generalmajor von Dehn-Rothfelser's light cavalry regiment. Free passage is to be granted by civilian and military authorities to the ensign and his troop travelling to the town of Hainberg, Ammelishayn. The document is signed by the Saxon Captain Schwerdtner - Dated: April 9, 1799
    3. Since the title of this thread (part of, anyway) is: How about this nice little gem? http://www.bogoff.com/pocket/6481.html
    4. On the back it reads; Meinem lieben Ernst Lan! signed: H. Unruh (hard to correctly read the signature) Juni 1917
    5. I'm trying to identify this Leutnant of Baden Leibgrenadier Regiment Nr.109 His name is H. Unruh (I could be wrong with the last name - hard to read) He was a Leutnant in the Summer of 1917.
    6. Sanitäts-Vizefeldwebel Julius Huber of RFAR52 wearing a Baden silver merit medal ribbon in button-hole.
    7. I have shown this picture before but appropriate here again Vizefeldwebel of the Kraftfahrtruppe
    8. He volunteered for service in the Wehrmacht - the officer in the recruiting office in Ludwigshafen happened to be a Korvettenkapitän.
    9. This discussion really starts to bother me to the point that I am considering leaving this forum. Not because of the politics or that I'm in disagreement with anyone's opinion. No, it affects me in a very personal way. I think of my Grandmother that lost both of her sons and her husband. She and her daughter, my mother, were the only survivors of that family. I think of my father that survived four years of war, his brother that perished at Stalingrad and the father he hardly remembers. I grew up never knowing my Uncles or Grandfathers - in a neighborhood of broken men and displaced women without husbands. Yes, Germany had it coming and the Nazi evil needed to be stopped ... but I also mourn my people.
    10. Very nice Attila! The name could read Husar Buck. The chevron on the right arm is a Fechtabzeichen (lance proficiency award) Different Regiment but note the ribbon bar!
    11. Paul, can you post more pages of this interesting Soldbuch? On his second promotion he is attached to General der Ordnungstruppen Nordwest
    12. David, you can get a copy on CD from Patrick for 5 €. Patrick is great to deal with. 1146 Reserve Infanterie Regiment Nr. 261 Here is the link: http://www.military-books.de.vu/
    13. Carl Louis Theodor Müldner von Mülnheim was promoted to Premier Lieutnant on May 24, 1860. After the defeat of the Kingdom of Hannover (1867) he served in the Prussian 8th Westphalian Infantry Regiment Nr.57. Müldner von Mülnheim retired as a Hauptmann from the Prussian Army. In 1897 he was the Postmaster in the Brandenburg town of Wriezen. .
