WWI ribbon bars
paddywhack replied to No one's topic in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
The qsa bar could be a bar that was made before the victory medal was issued as the victory was established I believe a few months after the war medal so it could have been made up before the owner physically got the war medal and victory medal (and the 15 star was established before the war medal to) I also believe there was some debate on the final ribbon for the victory medal (IV a few ribbon bars that have the never used version of the victory ribbon and a bar that has both the official and unofficial ribbon on it ie he was double dipping) -

Think this is some of the majors records, youl need to register with the national archives and there will probably be a charge.for the records but you might get some good info https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13294549 https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13294225 https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13294030 https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13293942 https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13294383 https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C13294299 -

paddywhack replied to christerd's topic in Great Britain: Orders, Gallantry, Campaign Medals
As a ribbon bar collector I'd agree it's probably an Indian general service medal ribbon, so you a pic of the back? -

On that groups ribbon bar there is a ww1 victory medal, how is he entitled to that if he was fighting on the side of the Germans and won a EK2nd class? -

QVC buttons or bust?
paddywhack replied to Farkas's topic in Great Britain: Militaria: Badges, Uniforms & Equipment
Well if the thing you bought was attached to this button then £65 might be ok but if it was in its own yeah that's not a bargain at all! -
So I recently picked up locally this named British army uniform and I was wondering if anyone could help me with IDing the owner, it seems to say Captain G R WATSON but as the uniform is completely stripped(with new shiny buttons added) I don't know the regiment he was from, iv tried the London gazette and no luck, I did find a capt G R WATSON on the 1945 army list but I can't access it on forces records without a subscription and while its on fold3 it doesn't seem to to be searchable, could anyone help to see if I could get an ID on this officer? Now the other thing that is a bit puzzled since I got it I noticed that on the bottom 2 pockets there doesn't seem to have been any buttons at all!is this normal? again help help on this would be great

Uniform identification
paddywhack replied to Macashton's topic in Great Britain: Militaria: Badges, Uniforms & Equipment
When I zoom in on the captain's buttons they look like elephants on them, could it be the Duke of Wellington regiment (west riding regiment)
