    1. Hi, thats the one, on Sunday he had a Urlaubs Schein for Schrott, from 1906 i think... and an Erkennungsmarke, but I think it was an early war 2. Jäg Batl.
    2. this kind of thing could also be used for student association bands, or watch fobs in student assoc colors...
    3. I had another one of these in my grubby fingers this weekend, I had wondered why, if issued in 1917 (for the first ones) how they knew to put 1918 on the bottom of the ring. I did not have a glass with me on the weekend, but I think there was no "8" ... just a 191.... I am tending to think that maybe the botton date was added as they were awarded... maybe there are rings out there with 1917 on them. This weekend the ring I saw was included with 5-6 other rings and simply labeled as "patriotic rings" ... the collector in question did not know what it was (had only found out the day before what it was)... which kinda supports my theory that most of these will gather dust with many folks totally ignoring them....
    4. I dont know how much of that is "real" and if there is a bit of a padding to his history.... He claims over 154 paracgute jumps with the Legion before WW2... at which time the French had no paratroopers ? Maybe an error by the journalist?
    5. This guy seems to have had a great career.... http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/the-incredible-saga-of-col-peter-j-ortiz/
    6. Interesting, i wonder if it was for something other than a regular tunic?
    7. I think this must be considered art? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2831859/The-hidden-world-beneath-trenches-World-War-troops-turned-abandoned-quarries-hidden-cities-carved-haunting-works-art-walls.html A guy named Jeff Gusky
    8. I think it imprtant to note, getting a silver or gold bravery medal did not mean the BMVK and EK2 were tossed in to the deal... I have a Silver Bravery document to a guy who got the medal in mid 1916... his only medal until he picked up an EK2 in late 1918.... So I think we can assume each medal was individually earned...
    9. I am unsure on the doc, I think I have seen this version for the unit, I think Dan Murphy had one like it... I am not sure if the one on ebay is a scan or fake, photos are not that great... In view of the medal, I would be veeeeery weary....
    10. That is interesting. I had read somewhere that the whole class of 1914 had been killed in action, but in retrospect that could not have been possible...
    11. Thnks guys, it is a bar on ebay with an ek1 doc to a guy from sturmbsttailon nr.3. . I will pass i guess...
    12. I think it is a shop that just happens to be at the museum, buys and sells like any other dealer and the same Caveats apply...
    13. I just realised Ernst Jugers diaries have also been published... I must order one and see if there is a mention...
    14. Hi, the strap seems to be a homemade/frontmade job. It buttons into the holes of the beltloops. If you unbutton them you can close them and have a regular brotbeutel, or open them and button the strap on. I am going to display it without the strap... or maybe trade it with the strap as marine is not really my bag.
