    2. Super!!!!! How does it compare to the Hass book? Thanks Chris
    3. Oooooohhhhhhhh! That be nice! wedya geddit?
    4. Nice piece... I love your stuff. best Chris
    5. very nice indeed!
    6. Nice, I remember about 30 years ago having a box of WW2 SA cloth... we played with the stuff till it fell apart... :-(
    7. I have a QEII one to a guy who was wounded in WW1. The wounds seem to have been bad enough to justify it!!!!
    8. hi, sorry for delay, am travelling at the mo and have very limited time and access.... is the holster dated/stamped... ditto ammo pouch? Thanks Chris
    9. Indeed.... I remember when I was a lad...... aaaaaaalllll those years ago.... Even in Cape Town, a huge metropolis compared to that Aussie backwater where Mr. L. lived.... there were a small hand full of dealers and something like an EK1 or Military Medal was big news..... Nowadays Kids of my age back then can simply go online and choose whatever they want, makers marks, regiments etc. etc.... We have it so easy compared to 20 years ago... ;-)
    10. Nice, i need a set like this for my tunic... Have no idea what they go for.
    11. Had a bit of a break... but a new thing up... A bit obscure... the elite S.B. Rohr in the Champagne, a little known action for them... http://www.kaiserscross.com/40029/278501.html
    12. Fantastic, The "Lonelyplanet" guide to London gives your museum a thumbs up as a day trip to Oxford... i hope to get there sometime. Best Chris
    13. damned nice find!!! like the wound ribbon with the stars... what is the star? Thought it was brit for half a second...
    14. I have not had it researched, so it is possible a star is missing... but is it possible to get a Defence, War medal and Africa Service medal... without a 39-45 star?
    15. Yes they are :-) Am looking at an SA group right now... Defence, war and Africa service named, and obviously by the same machine. Best Chris
    16. didnt australians have medals named, as did South africans?
    17. It is also possible that not only servicemen selling, but also dealers buying, erased medals. back in the time befor collecting took off, when maybe more old soldiers bought medals to replace lost/missing ones, it would have been easier to sell an unamed one....
    18. I think Vets have/had less access to medals than collectors. could be plenty of reasons, too many to guess. Maybe he lost it and bought one at random in a junk shop. or knew he was entitled to it, but had moved to Australia and bought it in a pawn shop tio complete his rack. A collector can pick and choose, an old codger living in Walamaloo doing animal husbandry for kangaroos may have had less choice ;-)
    19. Fantastic thread... i guess its somethinh I am going to have to collect as well now.....
    20. For the badge on the right... is the cross not still used by some units? up until today units have badges made locally. I think it is very possible to have local badges not officially listed anywhere. Best Chris
    21. I dont know if they are real... I do know I was hoping for pics of a very different nature when I read the title.... :-(
    22. HI, He is not listed as a casualty between the outbreak of the war and mid march 1900 in all units raised in South Africa, no match I am afriad. Best Chris
    23. here in the meantime is a start.. 11th-15th Feb, relief of Kimberly. Possibly not in the town guard but a unit involved in the relief, killed in the followup actions? http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/battles_relief_kimberley.html
