    3. No, it was a trip over it and break your leg thing, a huge chunk of steel, still laying there as dangerous as on the day it was born.
    4. Hi, I am not sure... here it is in detail....
    5. The best possible... I think the dead men may be firemen with the old leather fire helmets as opposed to soldiers? The wound badge on old Himmlerface means it is not in the early war period where the average soldier was still wearing a haube. i think this is postwar.
    6. Chip told me probably not, he has a reserve cross on the Tschako, old gear and I think even a lebel? Anyone want to have a guess what he could be? The bazonet cannot even fit the rifle... Thanks Chris
    7. Hi, What can this be? On the photo it says the Photographer is in Gersthofen. <Thanks Chris
    8. Hi, I remember JensF once mentioning finding an Austrian shell in the forest at Verdun... cannot remember what though...
    9. Hi, Here is a necklace from the wifes Grandmother....
    10. Here is a nice shot of one of those cool hats ;-) Thomas, Will try and get a pic posted in a day or so. Best Chris
    11. Welcome Jim, Nothing looks better row upon Row Of EKs. Look forward to seeing you in the EK forum!
    12. In an earlier post I wrote that I would add a photo of the miniature medals of the first OC of 2 Squadron, SAAF, in Korea. What a rack!!!!!!! Imagine the full sized medals on a bar... the DSO etc mounted in the middle!
    13. From the Link above.... a Wound badge for the Caureswald action....
    14. GBP85 is a joke... thats about EUR90. The following book came out in probably the same amount in the print run in 1997. It cost about EUR30. The quality is OK, nothing earth shattering. Still 8 days on auction and it is at EUR161. http://cgi.ebay.fr/La-Medaille-Coloniale-d...%3A1|240%3A1318 Anyone who does not get this kind of book while its still on the shelves will be pretty sorry 10 years down the road.
    15. ooops... forgot... 22nd Feb Erst?rmung des Caures Waldes XVIII. A.K.

The awards to two of the wounded with an account can be found below http://www.kaiserscross.com/41815/127101.html
    17. When were the Kustenpolizei formed? it would be interesting to know if they had the same mandate or if this was more limited. This seems to limit him exclusively to Swinemuende though. best Chris
    18. How about a day to day synopsis... 23rd of Feb today.... :-)
    19. A note to the above. Usually with such a serious wound the men landed in a military hospital back in their Wehrkreiss. These were not SS/Army/LW specific, so the issuing doctor would not have been an SS man. Its just a case of finding out which military hospital was there... Really a cool document!
    20. Would be interesting to find out through British records what happened to the flight crews....
    21. Have this by coincidence because it came with his WW1 EK2 and EK1 doc...
