    1. Hi, I am interested in picking up one of the sleeve diamonds with the lion disk in the middle. I have my eye on seperate disks, and was able to examine 2 others on the black diamond. Here is my question... how can one tell if the black background is original? What is the correct size top to bottom and left to right of the diamond? I assume there are variations? I assume there are also differences in cloth? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris
    2. Some of you may have heard my moans.... a local collector with a world class collection is getting well on in years... he is old enough to have received many pieces directly from the WW1 veterans and if you had the honor of visiting his collection you just wanted to give up as you felt you would never achieve a fraction of what he has, so why bother... Anyway, he chose to get rid of his collection in one fell swoop. No local collectors had a chance to make any offers, it all went to Helmut Weitze. Due to the mass of items it was not possible to give the stories that accompany the pieces and a few were mislabeled... so looking through Weitze's update a noticed a few of the local Jäger items from his collection, and a pair of Jäger zu Pferde straps which I was sure I recognised... Through I friend I contacted the collector who confirmed they were locally sourced boards from 2 Bay Jäger.... So I jumped on them.... They seem a tad wider than the late war boards, so I assume specially made for the NCO setup?
    3. I have been looking as well, the basic set up with the front pouch seems conman to the Austrian ones, and I have seen 2 dealers with them listed as such... but of course, the Romanian, Bulgarian etc ones could have been similar. I don't find a Russian equivalent...
    4. Hi , Ich hatte vor mehrere Jahren der goldenen von Franz Riethmann (b.R.I.R. 22) gekauft, suche aber eher Dokumenten :-)
    5. I have mine :-) Very nice indeed. If you need a book "Alpenkorps history a-z" it is not the right one, but if you already have a basic knowledge... this book is GREAT.... I can recommend it to anyone... and if you cannot speak German, it is worth it at the price just for the pics!
    6. Hi Walter, Welcome... wenn es dir lieber ist, kannst du auch auf Deutsch posten :-) MfG Chris
    7. Veeery difficult..... I am slowly of the opinion that the value of documents depends 100% on who happens to be there when you sell. On occasion i have had luck, and sold what I had up for sale, and on other occasions no one wants any..... For that reason I find it impossible to suggest priices. I normally ask what the document is worth to me... taking into account that on friday it may be worth less to me than it was on monday because I am bored with it, and next week it may be worth more as I have found something while researching it.....
    8. Hi, Here is a selection that fits for the 3rd Jäger Regiment. I guess I need a 2nd Prussian Jäger one as well....
    9. Hi, no problem, you can post in German, I agree, a fine unit indeed, but I am still astounded by the price. I have 7-8 of these documents to the Leib Regt... observing the prices over the years my guess was it would go for EUR250-270 for the document and Militärpass... 2 guys must really have been desperate....
    10. I was bidding on this, and I usually pay quite a bit above market.... but I still do not get why this shot sky high..... http://www.ebay.de/itm/Urkunde-EK-2-und-Militaerpass-Gebirgs-Masch-Gew-Komp-Inf-Leib-Rgt-Alpenkorps-/142506219564?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=E85epdlv41MvkjXnAquob1gqkME%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
    11. Hey dude... you changed your profile photo to "Axe murderer" !!!! :-)
    12. Hi, I have made various efforts to get projects started.... but all have hit a wall... there is simply not enough intrest and noone else willing to work on it .
    13. Fantastic! I love it when a plan comes together!!! ... and when a piece of history makes it home....
    14. Hi, Could very well be, I just mention it because the Leiberverein was very active between the wars and many veterans completed what they may have lost or binned just after the war. The popularity of Leib Regt Goodies for a single soldier can be seen in this auktion (Which I missed :-( ), https://www.ebay.de/itm/Konvolut-versch-Abzeichen-des-Koenigl-Bayer-Infanterie-Leib-Regiment-ILR-/192334795880?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=E85epdlv41MvkjXnAquob1gqkME%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
    15. I think the problem with Family and Vet aquired pieces is that there were reunions up until the 1960s and the men had many post war years to replace lost, damaged or ugly pieces. I have 2 groupings with the edelweiss with a crown, which I think is now accepted as a postwar Leiberverien badge, but there wa a time I would have thought it was wartime.
    16. Even the humble wound badge document.... https://www.ebay.de/itm/Abzeichen-fur-Verwundete-mit-Urkunde/302516262308?hash=item466f5fd5a4:g:~Q8AAOSwH1NZhZSX
    17. That is a pretty ecclectic bunch of stuff. I assume the Machine Gun Corps medallion is British WW1?
