    1. On the website of a quite well known Canadian dealer just surfaced a breast star of the Order of the White Eagle with Diamonds. Since we have seen some suspect items form this dealer I'd be interested to hear your opinion on this particular piece. It was supposedly manufactured by the firm Scheid, Vienna between 1890 and 1898 (I wonder why the company name was stamped 4 times on the order). Has the conferring of such a piece ever been mentioned and if so who were the awardees?
    2. So do the numbers given in the book of Soviet produced pieces by krasnokamsky mint correspond at least rudimentarily with those from sammler.ru?
    3. Yep, looks like white eagle. Don't forget 3rd cl and Grand cross St Sava.
    4. Well, that is just ridiculous. I'd still understand it if they would say on all lots with an estimate higher than xx (let's say 50K) you need to make a deposit. Who would want to make a deposit of 64K if he only intends to bid on let's say a DD for 10K. Not to mention that many collectors won't be able to afford such a sum.
    5. What was the exact amount asked for deposit?
    6. Hm? In the title and in the first line of the description it says "very rare original Victoria cross ribbon bar"
    7. Poly auctions and an interesting story: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-26950692
    8. Well chaps, the results are online. Most orders went for twice what was estimated.
    9. Nick, you call that a miniature chain? That's what I call a miniature chain! The orders are: Bavaria Order of Military Merit Bavaria Order of St Michael Prussia Order of the Red Eagle (with bow) Prussia Order of the Crown Oldenburg House Order Russia St Stanislaus Sweden Order of Vasa Austro-Hungary Order of Franz Joseph Bulgaria Order of St Alexander Denmark Dannebrog Order Japan Order of the Rising Sun China Order of the Double Dragon
    10. You're right - the black background looks far better
    11. Well it's simple, isn't it? Somebody removed the lacquer
    12. By the way, although it has no actual star corpus I'd rather classify it as a breast star than a badge.
    13. in 2007 M&E sold one for £12500 +20%premium =15000. Considering the inflation that equals to ~ £18.100 nowadays (yeah, that's how much money you lost ). The YJ one sold for £15.000 That follows the assumption that the prices stayed stable for the last seven years which I tend to doubt (it goes upwards, of course)
    14. Hi Paul, yes it's Polish. Exile Government, Odznaka pamiatkowa POW, or in English Memorial badge of POW. Pow stands for Polska Organizacja Wojskowa - "Polish Military Organization". Post WWII, obviously.
    15. Come on, spill the beans already!
    16. You mean Michael, right? Ferdinand I died in 1927. So, who's left? I was under the impression that Puyi, Hirohito and Michael were the only recipients of the collar. No, no, it's only a crime and shame that such a treasure isn't in my collection
    17. So there is a collar on the private market - which one?
    18. No collector of Manchukuo awards could wish for more than that. Thank's for the picture of this eye candy. The collar is unobtainable, of course. But what's with sash badge + breast star? As far as I know some of them are in private hands but I don't recall that one was ever sold. Nick, any info on that? The design choice for the collar is quite interesting: -incorporating the sign of the illustrious dragon - bears the same symbol as the Mongolian order of the polar star It looks like the upper part of the grand cross badge was made from the same die as the upper part of the auspicious clouds. Even the rosette bears a pearl!
    19. Very beautiful. Is it known how many diamond Savas were conferred and where the others are located?
    20. Now show us hq pictures of the order of the orchid blossom, please
