    1. Yes it is researchable, send Ferdinand (Auke) a pm he can get you the research and quote for price. :)
    2. 3.6mil serial number should be around 52 to 56 ish :S around there, I mean if you're super super lucky it could be a Korean War one but I've never seen a order or medal for the Korean war It is most likely a catch up from WW2 or something similar. That was awarded later on. The serial number range varies when they've issued the order.
    3. Wow, what a fantastic piece and research Fantastic addition to the collection Captain Albert
    4. Depends on the conditions, tropical environement effects it, if its been out on a shelf exposed to heat and humidity (ie house with no AC open to the conditions outdoors) vs a case stored inside in a storage room somewhere in your house, which isn't exposed to the conditions, then the black stays black and doesn't change color If one step in the process for coating these is off and not suitable to these conditions, the browning or tropical look can occur easily over time and with the right "luck" from your environement, when you live in a tropical climate it occurs much easier. You could also have in theory a perfectly coated example that has just withstood harsher conditions in life than other pieces and therefore due to the chemical reaction with the environement either fading or distressing of the color can occur It all depends on your environment A Great example is leaving a Yellow Flag outside in the environement on a flag pole and keeping another example in your drawer, which one would become more faded through time the environement and reaction to sun, heat, cold etc would all effect the color of the piece while the one that is protected and not used would remain close to New Old Stock. Other examples where this can occur is watches and guitars, a lot of musicians that go to record in the Caribs either bring an alternate or don't take their prime examples with them, because the strings can rust and through time the guitar's finish can fade.
    5. Here is an example from a watch forum, these aren't my images just copied and pasted into paint to show the differences in variation. The same watch, same year, same black starting dial, and different colors of brown shade in each, do we recognize the left most dial color ;)
    6. If its ok I'll post some watches for examples, it can go anywhere from light brown to an almost scarlet brown, its really crazy :D
    7. It doesn't surprise me, in the late 1970s and 80s there were some Omega Speedmasters and Rolexes (other brands as well ) that started their lives as Black dial models, throughout time and with active use they could develop a tone anywhere from Chocolate (as we see here) to even a light blue color, depending on where the individual lived and what climate the watch was under. If even the proportions for some paint is incorrect or not enough laquer is applied to seal the color this fading can occur There are a couple conditions and names for these dials but most common is the "Tropical Dial" Its an everyday thing in watches don't think that orders and medals cases would be too far off in color, one step of the process is incorrectly applied and it can turn some crazy colors through time. Just an additional note: there are some really interesting variations that can make a dial look either completely brown, or even have tiger stripes appearances or "spider webs" anyway just an insight into my watch passion
    8. Paul, I'll be no help in here since I'm a total newbie to Imperial German, but I was browsing around and if you look on the last page of this thread: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/16403-rolls/page-18 There are some knowledgable members there that might be able to help. Sorry that I couldn't be more help Igor
    9. R.I.P Lt. Gen. Kalashnikov Modernized the sale of weaponry with an affordable and iconic weapon.
    10. Ohhhh sweet is this the new addition to the collection Fantastic

    12. Overpricing is the hit of the season It is the most...wonderful time of the overpricing Yearrrr
    13. If you check on Mondvor, the Type 2 is nearly the same on the deviation, didn't see that one before :D
    14. The booklet looks like an award type 8 booklet which is something like 1979 and above issue. There are other metals that can be combined to mimic the weight of gold. not saying this isn't gold, but initially when it was posted it just seemed like a coated gild. Do you have any other Lenin's to compare to this one, or is this your first one? :)
    15. Meh still if its the right price, why not ;)
    16. +1 Museums take a lot of time, unless you have a lot of money, not sure if the city does have coffers full of money for a restoration but it would be nice to see something happen at least. Becoming a Super Yacht beats, being beached and becoming a diving attraction for coral reefs to grow on.
    17. Galeb is still waiting since April of 2013, Here is another link: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1781091 I hope they don't wait too long :S The "Ship of Peace" needs to be restored Asap
    18. I mean the connecting things that connect the medals to make it a bar, its pretty new The medals themselves look old Its just odd how they are attached to me at least :S
    19. It seems a tad too new for me, but then again I'm not the authority on Medal Bars but anyway just thought of throwing it out there. Its in pretty amazing condition if its reallllllly old
    20. Aye so maybe 800 to 1200 seems ok number? It is by far one of our rarest medals
    21. I'd run away from the medal bars They all have something as Rick told me when I asked him. I've been a crazy customer for emedals in the past couple months and the prices are usually bordering on insane, but you have to pay for what you like I guess on their site. The selection is there, both great and not so great, you have to be wise in your decision and make the right one with due diligence :)
    22. Still agree with you, totally rare either way you look at it
