    1. The following 10 full colonels were the only Prussian officers in 1895 with the exact combination of an RAO3S, KO3, EK2 70, DA. As far as I can ascertain, only Oberst Stolte was a former Hannoverian officer. Fürstenberg Frhr. von: DR 15 Hitzigrath: IR 54 Klauer: 3. Ing.-Inspektion Langenmayr: Landwehrbezirk Frankfurt a.M. Mende: 3. Ing.-Inspektion Schroetter Frhr. von: IR 56 Stolte: IR 67 Werckmeister: IR 22 Zobel: Landwehrbezirk Hannover Zschüschen: IR 82 Regards Glenn
    2. He looks good according to the IR 61 Stammliste: I will see if anyone else comes into the frame. Regards Glenn
    3. Rick, have you considered Oberst Ferdinand Stolte? Sec.-Lt. in 7. Infanterie-Regiment and died as an Oberst à la suite in IR 67 and Commandant of Diedenhofen on 24 June 1896. Shown with: RAO3S, KO3, EK2 70, DA in 1896. Regards Glenn
    4. Indeed it was but it was never transferred to the Kaiserliche Marine. The Austro-Hungarian Mars is shown in the 1914 A-H Schematismus as Kasemattschiff employed as a harbour protection ship at the Pola Naval Base in the Adriatic. Regards Glenn
    5. He is wearing the uniform of a German Deckoffizier. The SMS Mars was struck from the rolls of German Warships in February 1914. An armed trawler of that name served with the North Sea Screening Flotilla during the war. Regards Glenn
    6. Ian, I believe that is Oberst Oswald Eccher v. Echo Edler v. Marienberg, Commander of Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 84. Regards Glenn
    7. This is Dr. Pellnitz's entry in the Kaiser Wilhelms Akademie Stammliste. He entered that establishment in the Easter intake of 1901. Glenn
    8. I am wondering if wartime awards of the RKM were published in the Militär-Wochenblatt? Something to check out. Glenn
    9. Rick, Adam Ueberlacker, born 29 March 1887 at Dörrenberg, Brückenau. Long time member of 5./I.R. 5. Prewar regular who entered the Bavarian Army on 22 August 1908. I’ll send you the extract and let you decipher the Klingon handwriting. Glenn
    10. For what it is worth, I am very much in agreement with Rick on the subject of people wanting information/identification of their photographs/medal bars etc yet plaster them with blobs and all sorts of copy protection. This is two way traffic; if I am to spend my time researching for the benefit of others, I expect the courtesy of a decent image in return. Fair enough in the case above when the image was from an external source and not the poster's property. Regards Glenn
    11. Emilio Marchiafava is shown as a captain of cavalry (27 June 1913) in the Reggimento Cavalleggeri di Caserta in the 1914 Italian Army List. Foreign decorations are not listed. He was born on 1 November 1876 and commissioned on 9 April 1898. Regards Glenn
    12. Rick, Christer may well have the exact date but this from the 1925 Swedish "Statskalender". Regards Glenn
    13. Rick, Royal permission to wear was gazetted in the 12 December 1911 edition of the Militär-Wochenblatt. Regards Glenn
    14. Eduard Hoffmann was transfered to 9. Infanterie-Regiment Wrede on 22 February 1913. He retired on 25 October 1913. Glenn
    15. Does not look like a 4 in the epaulette field, so presumably 8. Infanterie-Regiment. Glenn
    16. Brian, No mention of any WW1 service in the UR 6 Stammliste. Regards Glenn
    17. Richard Brückner: Factory owner in Calbe, Kgl. Pr. Kommerzienrat, chairman of the association of German paper manufacturers. Married 1891 to Auguste v. Jacobs. 1.10.77: One Year Volunteer in Ulanen-Regiment Nr. 6 12.8.79: Sekonde-Lieutenant d.R. 15.2.90: Premier-Lieutenant d.R. 22.3.95: Rittmeister d.R. 18.10.04: retired with regimental uniform. Died 5 December 1916. Stammliste des Thüringischen Ulanen-Regiments Nr. 6 Dienstaltersliste der Offiziere des Beurlaubtenstandes der Königlich Preussichen Armee 1902 Regards Glenn
    18. Another portrait of Professor Schmidt. Regards Glenn
    19. Professor Hermann Schmidt, born 9 March 1885 in Gera, died 5 October 1950 in Berlin-Templehof. Entered the Prussian Army on 1 April 1903. Shown as a Musikmeister-Anwärter in Infanterie-Regiment von Wittich (3. Kurhessisches) Nr. 83 in 1913. Promoted to Musikmeister on 15.2.15. In 1927 he was the Musikmeister of III./10. Infanterie-Regiment in Dresden. As the Musikinspizienten were transferred from official to soldier status WEF 12 April 1938, he is not listed in the 1939 edition of the Wehrmachtbeamten list. The collar patches are the pattern introduced per order 11 March 1930 for all higher grade officials (Beamten des höheren Dienstes). Regards Glenn
    20. Well, Herr General went for some 56 Euros! he was, in fact the then Generalmajor Arthur v. Bernewitz, General Officer commanding the 31.Kavallerie-Brigade in Straßburg. General v. Bernewitz (1842-1920), commanded the brigade, initially as an Oberst from 17 February 1894 to 20 July 1897. This from the 1896 Rangliste. A former Braunschweig Hussar Officer, he had already earned his Brunswick 25 year long service cross before the 1886 convention incorporating the Braunschweig contingent into the Prussian Army proper. Regards Glenn
    21. Then perhaps Oblt d.R. (22.3.10) Dr. Jur. Staude of Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 36, Landwehrbezirk Weißenfels. A Gerichtsassessor in civilian life. Promoted to Hauptmann d.R. on 10.10.14. Regards Glenn
    22. Its a pretty rare thing. By 1895 they were just seven officers in the Prussian Army who held it. Of these, three were already "zur Disposition". By 1900 that had reduced to two. Regards Glenn
    23. Rick, the same Hamburg Dr. Staude is the only physician listed in the 1914 Reichs-Medizinalkalender of that name. So if a medical doctor, only qualified during the war. Regards Glenn
    24. Check out this offering on ebay.de: http://www.ebay.de/itm/181180855432?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 Generalleutnant Rudolf v. Wartenberg 1816-1898 it is most certainly not!!
