Well, Herr General went for some 56 Euros! he was, in fact the then Generalmajor Arthur v. Bernewitz, General Officer commanding the 31.Kavallerie-Brigade in Straßburg. General v. Bernewitz (1842-1920), commanded the brigade, initially as an Oberst from 17 February 1894 to 20 July 1897. This from the 1896 Rangliste. A former Braunschweig Hussar Officer, he had already earned his Brunswick 25 year long service cross before the 1886 convention incorporating the Braunschweig contingent into the Prussian Army proper. He is not an Admiral. That is Generalmajor Paul v. Hoepfner, the Inspekteur of Marine-Infanterie between 1896 and 1902. Regards Glenn

Rick, the nearest match I can find is the later Generalmajor z.D. Curd v. Plato. A former Hannoverian Premier-Lieutenant. His Saxon Merit and Albrecht orders, however were both commander's grades. He is still listed in the 1904/05 Ordens-Almanach with additionally a Japanese Sacred Treasure Commanders and a Centenary. Regards Glenn
