    1. The bar is rarer with the veterans' medal on it- a splendid piece. Thanks to RR and JF I have many old Old Tony Colsons notes on veterans' stuff and this little medal was a private purchase-award given for "long service" in a town veteran's association. I think its' splendid!
    2. wow!! Greg where are you getting all of these badges? I am jealous.
    3. stunning Rudi!!! wunderbar! do you have that big bar on the right identified yet?
    4. wow!!!! Neat. i too have never seen a box, but the certificates seem to pop up regularly.
    5. No: The heading is "On/Regarding the Lust for party and state awards"..... (My translation-a bad one).
    6. Bingo!!! Furtados' article on these was in the November/December 2008 issue of the JOMSA. It Has EVERYTHING you need in it. The state legislated the cross and private firms and shops in Portugal manufacture different variations. The old state military factories/mints have closed and these are still made today. Apparently, there is therefore, no such thing a a "fake' version of the cross. French firms may also have made the cross after WW1. There are three different types with different centers (national shield)and reverse motifs: 1917, 1949 and 1971
    7. Yes they do sell back issues waaaaay back to the mid 1990s too! The OMSA.org web site has details.
    8. NO German troops were awarded the Hungarian "flower wars " medals. There was a little cross pollination of individuals in the axis armies, but if that was worn by a Hungarian ex-soldier/bureaucrat/militaman who was somehow in a German unit that had the time to require a medal bar, well...unlikely is the way I see it.
    9. see here: apparently to an entire regiment, but still unbelievably rare: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.militar.org.ua/foro/el-asalto-al-cuartel-moncada-en-1953-t1560.html&ei=IOs7TKulG4G0lQeq4ZT7BQ&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CB8Q7gEwATgK&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmaceo%2Bcruz%2Bhonor%2B1953%26start%3D10%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DxPs%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26channel%3Ds%26prmd%3Dbo
    10. WOW!!!! Hard evidence at last! Yeah, I reckon LOTs of people are reading this thread, but as usual, only a few of us have put the pieces together or dug around in the archives. Near as we can tell outright annual awards ended in 1943. there is a tantalizing Rubric order regarding Partei Abzeichen awards @ March 1943 in the Fuhrer decrees Index summary, but so far I have been unable to obtain the actual text. RR may have a few more tidbits and has some Gau listings of awardees. I think He got one of them from you Joe. I hesitate to write more because last time we started off on a tangent like this prices exploded.
    11. Bloody Hell! :jumping: That is THE BEST FFL group I have ever seen! That's worth an article at least! Thanks for posting this. It is superb .....and I learned a lot!
    12. Hmmmmm... I reckon SAgongs.org or OMSA might have an answer.....I'll try there.
    13. Cool! I think CSM Furtado wrote a very comprehensive JOMSA article on these a few years back. I'll go see tomorrow if I can dig it out.
    14. Wow! I do not have the 1870 MVO booklet, but the Jagers btns averaged two awards each in 1866. There was an issue document for the 1866 medal with a grand total of @5,981 campaign medals issued to Jagers etc.
    15. A scholar and a gent-old school. If he says it, you can take it to the bank.

    16. ohhhhh...the Ricks have been busy! It is quiet but frankly the last 4 months for me have taken off in a variety of ways. I hope to be more active once the holidays are over.
    17. what era is the officer at the top? @ 1900? Could he be Freiherr Corfitz Hans Beck-Friis of the K. Skanska Dragonregt?
