    1. wow!! I LOVE the neck order. I gotta ask-why'd you leave the USAF and go army? Our Pxs and NCO clubs were always better (at least in Europe). Is that an Arctic medal i spy?
    2. Speaking of the RUC and the related RIC, I found this photo today in a trash bin (no joking). On the back is written:" Thomas Conlon" and in a different hand (biro pen) "Mary Sullivans' brother who was killed in the Irish Rebellion about 1916". On the net I found that a Constable Thomas Conlon was murdered in Belfast in July, 1921 by the IRA.
    3. Naxos helped identify him a few months back: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36295&view=&hl=Mauss&fromsearch=1
    4. Weird how things pop up. Back to your photograph....are you certain that is a 3rd class? There is NO KuK Hauptman or Major on my list with swords and crown. However, a 4th class presents a number of possibilities.
    5. wow! Yas was one of the greats. I have the MVO3xcrown list and nothing A-H shows up. However, are you certain thats' a third class? Could it be a 4th?
    6. I think FJP auctions had a Mercy medal @ 2 auctions ago. How did your Granddad earn these?
    7. Bravo!!! Excellent write up and a fantastic group!! Ahem-have you ever published that? It would make a nice article in the JOMSA or OMRS journal.
    8. Yeah it's quiet-but it's that time of the year-I lose control of all media for about 6 weeks this time of year until the Superbowl is decided. I really like this one-probably hard won given the LS. One can't know for certain, but I'd wager this was an E2-E3s bar. I have a photo album that belonged to a well off Unterofficer in a Baden artillery unit. The chap, who after the war was in the Stahlhelm, never made it above Unterofficer, but saw some horrific battles. There are pages of photos of dead Russian corpses knee deep in front of dugouts in front of the gun positions. The chap was wounded and got NOTHING for the entire war except a black wound badge. Maybe this belonged to his Wurtenbergian counterpart.
    9. OK, now the Key is awesome!! That's a first! Bravo!
    10. No-that's someone else-identified on another forum many years ago. You are correct though, Slevogt had the sub badge-not the zepp. badge. The officer was identified by someone else elsewhere-back to the ranklists!
    11. Splendid!! I'll be back tomorrow with a US group and a Canadian one. I'd REALLY like to see a South Korean one though. A Norwegian group would be cool too.
    12. whoops!! Jeesum. Now THAT's one I should've had easy! I am getting old.
    13. "traded to Yas" as in THE Yas- the man who founded OMSA?
    14. I did not get the picture, but here is Slevogt in 1942:
    15. This is another Ethiopian Korean war veteran's ribbon bar, probably a senior NCO's or a junior officers'-worn during the 1960s and maybe up until the coup of 1974. It consists of the Order of the Ethiopian Star (member), Korean war campaign medal, republic of Korea Korean war campaign medal, US Presidential unit citation ribbon, Korean presidential citation ribbon and the UN Korea medal.
    16. Brett H. just posted some superb Dutch medal bars (in the Turkey section), so I thought I'd start a topic on Korean War medal bars. Given the international aspect of the conflict, all sorts of interesting things could show up. For example, we know that Soviet and Warsaw Pact advisers were in Korea..... This is my recent find, an Ethiopian Imperial Guard medal bar.
    17. Stogie: Is that the LiebStArt Medical officer that we saw at Lowell?
    18. Ahh! That brings back memories. Do you have the badge book as well?
    19. FANTASTIC!!!! Are you going to add the 39-45 star and the war medal ribbon? I wonder how he got the France/German star?
    20. Thanks!! I just learned something there-
    21. I admit I know NOTHING about the originality of minis, but there were LOTs of people who ONLY got an REO and nothing else in their careers. These were often socially prominent businessfolk or professionals. The SS medal though-that's a stretch.
