    1. I've been focussing on photographs lately and thought I'd post these two CDVs of a couple of members of the Schutztruppe wearing their corduroy uniforms (and some nice medals as well ) cheers Jas
    2. Hi Chris - just saw the one you've described to Stapf on EMedals, marked SOLD, is this the one?
    3. Hi Mervyn, I was speaking to some of the ex-military guys at work about this auction, and they mentioned that Australian VC's aren't permitted to leave the country....here's hoping. regards Jas
    4. Only 6 weeks until I fly to Melbourne to check out the Tutankhamum exhibition!!

You will enjoy it - the pieces are magnificent. Unfortunate for the visitors to Cairo museum - you'll have the best pieces.Mervyn

    5. Does anyone know of any decent militaria dealers in Melbourne? I'm heading down there late August and need some help finding some down there...apart from IS Wright :)

    6. Just got the good news - my son has passed the initial examination to attend the Corporal's Training Course in his cadet unit!

That's great! I'm sure your son is quite relieved after waiting on the results of the exam.

Thanks Claudius, he's very relieved now he knows he's passed the first step. I know he'll do well as he loves being a cadet!

Hi Jason, congrats for your son. I remember the time I have passed this examination. I finished my duty as a sergeant. Tell him this words of King Fredric II of Prussia about the grade of Corporal : the Corporal is the vertebral column of the prussian army". So without them nothing can be done. Christophe

    7. Magnificent! What a beautiful piece....this is the sort of thing that makes me happy to be a Saxon collector
    8. Time to move onwards and upwards methinks....some people in this office need a major attitude adjustment, preferably with a large piece of timber tapped gently against the earhole....

    9. ANZAC Day 2011 - another successful march by my son in his cadet unit in the local parade at Sandgate! I'm one proud father!!

    10. Very nice Christophe! I'm still waiting to get one of these 25 year crosses mounted in a group, so seeing yours in its case has re-ignited the search Jason
    11. I'm no expert...but those SS runes look awfully deformed. The first set seems almost squashed on the right hand S, and the first S on the second is missing half it's top. I'm sure the quality control guys wouldn't have let that slip by. Jason
    12. As someone who is a mad Colonial era collector....all I can say is "congratulations Timo!" cheers Jas
    13. Only a few days to go until I'm off to Newcastle to see Weird Al Yankovik :)

That’s a strange punishment, but stiff upper lip old chap - you’ll get through it. Can’t expect the Old Bailey to be too lenient in the administration of justice. Just what was your crime that you have to serve such a harsh sentence?

This might explain why Chris B has been scarce on the forum

    14. Thats a great set Rudi, I'd give my back teeth to get my hands on a group like this one!!! Congratulations!!!! cheers Jas
    15. Gentlemen - SUCCESS!!! I have received an email this afternoon from the curator of heraldry at the AWM advising there will be no problem viewing and photographing the decorations. If there are any of them you guys would like me to photograph for you let me know the AWM reference number(s) and I'll send the list to them on Monday next week...I'm hoping to see the lot, but time (and the curator's patience) may be a factor. cheers Jas
    16. They sure do!! Until you see them laid out in rows its hard to imagine a more complete collection of decorations...I remember years ago a fellow collector went down there and saw the collection first hand, they apparently have huge metal drawer units lined with felt FULL of medals, bars and badges.
    17. The decorations shown in Chris's link were on display under glass many years ago, I was able to photograph them (badly) on a trip there. There were some amazing pieces, if I can find the pics I'll scan them and post them up once my PC is back online. cheers Jas
    18. Haha yes its a bit drier here now...but still lots of mud and dead fish around in car parks etc! I had a feeling it was original to the bar...but there's always the chance it could have been "fiddled" with at some stage in its life. Im heading down that way in March....so I'll contact the curator of heraldry to see if I can examine the bar in person and get some decent pics of it. cheers Jas
