      Hello All. Thanks for the help. I am a little unclear about the medals having a serial number. I'll see what I can find out.

      On another forum a person has 2 WWI British Victory medal for $15.00 each. He describes them as: WW1 victory DVR AJ Smith ASC WW1 victory PTE A Anderson HLI I assume the DVR and PTE are rank. What does the ASC and HLI stand for? Also is it possible to get the award card and find their unit? Is the price good? Thanks for the help

      I know you said "killed" but many also died of disease after the fighting stopped. U.S. soldiers remained in France and German up to at least mid-1919. It was in February 1919 that the third wave of influenza hit the continent. Of the fifteen soldiers I have wrote about in my books, three died of disease after 11/11/1919.

      How many decorations are to be mounted? The ribbon is 30mm wide so that should help with the calculation. If, for example, four decoration are to be mounted, find a bar with four decoration and estimate the size. Good Luck.
