Apparently, once appointed as a Personal aide-de-camp you can continue to wear the insignia for the rest of your life not the Sovereigns…. You can also wear more then one if appointed by another Sovereign, it appears. Lord Mountbatten wearing GVI & E11R with Charles.

Curious, isn’t wasn’t it! I’m sure there must be a reason, as nothing happens by accident in the Royal household!

Interesting that the King, still has E11R on his epaulettes.

A month on, and as far as I’m aware there have been no further announcements re medals. Although the Royal Mint, have begun striking new 50p pieces which it appears, will be in circulation next month. So assume it won’t be too much longer now on the medals front……….

Am aware of a couple of forces, that have now changed their badges to C111R and a King’s crown. But as yet there has been no further, developments re medals, which I find strange. Surely plans must have been in place, for what was eventually to be an inevitable situation? Two months on, and no news. Not even with regards to miniature medals.

Thought this might be of interest. Over the last few days, I have contacted all the main stream, miniature medal suppliers. None of them were able to provide any release dates, for C111R miniature medals. I fully appreciate that this is an unprecedented situation. But I would have thought after near 2 months, there would have been some sort of announcement. Surely plans must have been in place for what can only be an inevitable situation….

I understand that this is a prototype, yet to be formally authorised. So I guess Gloucestershire are the first?

ACSM, yes had forgotten about that one! Coronation Medal, I guess is a given. Couldn’t agree more with regards to any subsequent campaign medals, but I fear it is just a matter of time, before the necessity for additional medal(s) comes to pass….

Would be interested to learn what current campaign medals, we’re likely to see with the King Charle’s effigy on? GSM 2008, clasps Northern Africa and Eastern Africa. OSM clasp Iraq & Syria. Any others?

Will be interesting to see if all new LSGC’s will now look the same? I assume that they will all have the same uncrowned effigy now? I would be interested to hear other peoples opinions! Has anyone got any “pukka gen” information?

Recently discovered that back in 2012, a new effigy was released on the Colonial LSGC, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonia ... vice_Medal “The medal is circular, silver and 36 mm (1.4 in) in diameter. The obverse depicts the effigy of the reigning sovereign surrounded by the royal titles. To date, there have been six types of obverse, the date in brackets showing the year the design was introduced” Would be interested to see one, in anyone is able to provide if photograph?

I wonder when we can expect to see miniature medals, being the King’s effigy?

Yes I would imagine the QPM will now become the KPM. Although I don’t believe it is issued for gallantry anymore, I believe the QGM or indeed KGM is used in that instance.

17 years on, can we shine any new light on this medal? Has anyone come across other example since?

I wonder whether the medal will bear the effigy of the Queen Consort as well? Assuming the ribbon will be red,white and blue, will be interesting to see what variation they come up with?
