This type of commemorative documents are often encountered, at least the German ones. I don't know if it was common practise to have these made right after the war and in the early 20's. Evedently they became popular after 1933, the recipient's awards was normally accounted for and the Frontk?mpfer Kreuz is more than often present. The document shown here is what I believe Belgian. I've tried to find some date of issue, but no luck. If anyone has an idea about the time-frame of this document, I'm all ears. KR Peter

Finally I've found a case for my medal . It came in a lot with other cases, all with notes inside, referring to their identity. The identity of the others was correct, so I assume this is the real deal as well. I also have the Philippine Insurrection Medal 1899, awarded to the same individual. Would the case to this be the same, or is there any way to tell them apart? KR Peter

EK 1939 EK II unmarked W&L
Peter J replied to stevo4361's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Very nice cross Steve, same "blob" and also another similarity, the rounded corners of the arms. Thanks for enlightning me about other possible "hump"-manufacturers. KR Peter -
Last year when I visited the Stuttgart fair, some of us gathered for a meeting at a local diner for some food and drinks (more of the latter ). As customary, new purchases were passed around the table for inspection. I then pulled up this EK2 and asked if anyone could find anything odd about it. I believe we were 14-16 individuals at the table and everyone had a go at it. Opinions were uttered, but it wasn't until one of the ladies made a comment the obvious answer was revealed, "It has no numbers on the reverse!". I can assure you that there was a lot of laughing around the table and ambarrassment for not having seen the obvious. KR Peter

EK 1939 EK II unmarked W&L
Peter J replied to stevo4361's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I'm sorry for my late response, but you both scored . Darrell, nothing wrong with your memory Steve, spot on, it's a Berg % Nolte. This leads me to another question, are there any crosses from other manufacturers with the typical hump present? KR Peter -
EK 1939 EK II unmarked W&L
Peter J replied to stevo4361's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanks Steve, another small detail for an absent-minded like yours truly Here's one cross that I don't believe correspond to yours, albeit it has a hump. It's actually marked on the ring. Anyone wants to give it a shot as to the manufacturer KR Peter -

Peter J replied to stevo4361's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Very nice cross Steve . You guys have to excause my limited knowledge in different designs of the EK, but are there any other distinctive features on the W&L crosses, apart from the "hump" at the top, making it possible to tell the manufacturer of an unmarked cross? KR Peter -

Luftwaffe Fake Luftwaffe tabs
Peter J replied to Paul R's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
Sorry Paul, I hope I didn't spoil your night The original owner of these boards had them made in the mid 50's. I don't know the location of origin, but I suppose it's Germany. The workmanship is excellent, at least to my opinion. Cloth has never been of great interest to me, mainly due to the difficulties to determine originality. These boards surely haven't changed that opinion. Nor I have seen a genuine set of GFM boards, but if you compare these to war time illustrations, you'll notice a couple of anomalies. The lower section of the leaves are positioned with a space to the rest of the wreath, the batons are to small and the eagle has a drop-tail. But like I said, the rest is not bad. Larry, it makes a scary comparison the General boards, shown by you in the other thread. KR Peter -

I kind of figured these boards would attract some attention. Paul, let's hear what others have say. I'll eventually give you the whole story. Larry, these boards have never resided on E-bay or any other site for that matter. KR Peter -

Narvik Shields
Peter J replied to Jan Arne S's topic in Germany: Third Reich: State, Civil, NSDAP Awards & Decorations
Sure Bob, I can provide only this image from my own collection. But I know there are others here amongst our members . This one is known as a Deumer. The Deschler differs slightly on the feathers. There is also one referred to as "Juncker", where the tip of the feathers are positioned above the horizontal bar and the lower part of the oakleaves, not being positioned on the same level (lower part) on the very same bar. For the time being, ignore the 4th referred to KR Peter -

Marvin, I believe there are at least two unknown manufactured, apart from Deschler and Deumer. I'm sure Pascal will elaborate KR Peter -
