Thats the proper medal to the 2nd ribbon - German Honor Legion Medal with 2 years of active Frontline Service Device on the ribbon.

Was today in the Newspaper and i thought it might be of interest - reads as following (hope that my translation is understandable): Polarstar-Order for Kumpf The Parliament member from Stuttgart and ceo of the parliament party of the SPD (middle-left party), Ute Kumpf was awarded the monoglian "Polar-Star-Order" for her merits for the german-mongol-relationship. In the presidential palace in Ulan Bator recieved Ute Kumpf the Order out of the hands of the mongol minister-president Sanjaa Bayar. This award was awarded rarly to foreigners. "Ute Kumpf had a big part in the development of Democracy in our country", said the minister-president, "through her advice for example is the quote of women in the revolutionary pupils party to be found".

3 days after this happened the retreating Seymour-Expedition-Corps also reached the city and "ended" their expedition then. From one of those retreating soldiers does come the attached medalbar. Its interesting to see this clasp on a bar, as many soldiers didn't mounted the Seymour-Expedition clasp on their bar, as this clasp is for a lost "action" and with that, the only clasps of the China medal, which was given for a non victorious engagement.

Today its now 109 years, that the city of Tientsin (China) was again fully ruled by foreign troops, after there where big troubles in and around the city with Boxer-Rebells. On the 23rd around 2.000 Soldiers under the command of the russian General St?ssel hold and cleaned the city from rebells. Amongst these where 2Kompanien of the III.Seebattailon.

Just in 3rd place ... and not here yet (though on the way) ...

This ribbon definately does not belong to the cross - but it would be correct for the "Soldatensieldungsverband Kurland" medal - with an ancient soldier riding on horseback.

Thanks for the additional pictures! From what i can judge with the pictures i'm not 100% about the colonial medals originality. As if you have a closer look on the reverse lettering. Easiest would be the last word "EHRE" there the first "E" is missing/crudly made lower part of it and the last "E" seems as if there are no well made "ends" at the top and bottom of the letter. Also have a look at the rim of the medal - if you can see indicators of casting there. If so, i would imagine, that the bar was originaly going with a "normal" colonial medal and this one was later replaced by a repro of a "black" colonial medal. interesting - could you add very good close ups of the front and reverse of the colonial medal?

Hy Tom, nice group The ring of the Friedrichs Order is correct in that way - it was same on the Order of the W?rttemberg Crown and the Military Merit Order - even if it looks like a "imperial german commander ring" its in fact for the knights decoration. All the other kinds of rings you see on these 3 Orders are custom / jeweler / tailor made or replaced to fit better on the medalbar. All the best Christian

I hope this is the proper place to ask, as hours of search by myself where sadly unsuccessfull. I heared, that there is a book about the British Order of Battle, which shows, where all british units where during the first world war and even that the later set up regiments which replaced lost ones. If anyone could help me to find this book i would appreciate very much! And as footnote - does something for indian regiments exist as well? Thanks a lot Christian

The Documents are extremly nice! As i expected there are no documents at all. At least after talking hours to a Syrian Soldier, who lives now close to my home, he told me that neither himself nor any of his comrades got any of his medals together with a document, case or even envelope. He told me, that if anyone got awarded a medal, the had to line up and the officer was pining the medals directly on the ribbon - thats it. Nothing else! Christian

As nobody posted up to now - i'll try my best (without having my books with me) i have a picture of a miniature bar with the mentioned order on. And as far as i remember, its also the kind of ribbon i have seen on the other examplese of the Order. Christian PS: just a Grandofficer, no Grandcross, but the ribbon is same if memory serves proper!

Nice bar! Neither have i seen this style of swords going with that medal, but as the SEHO has straigt pols (like on the medal of Christophe) and curved poles (like the ones on the medalbar) - i wouldn't worry about myself (judging by the picture and the use of swords on the SEHO - as these where the ones available at the tailors place). I got today a few books, amongst these was the "Montly Army List - August 1916". I know it might sound rather strange, but who used the book (as it says - For Official use only") and as there are no medals entered to the names is it comparable to german imperial "Stellenbesetzungen"?
