    1. Hi and welcome, bit of an open ended request, what are you looking for?. To start the ball rolling two images of Wolfram Sievers who ran it, the B/W, period, and the other a B/W colourised image of what he may have looked like, taken whilst in prison after the war just prior to his execution Regards Alex K
    2. Any chance we could know his name? regards Alex K
    3. Please, fire away regards Alex K
    4. Hi just had a look, fantastic site, well done Alex K
    5. Don't think it's a 4 (S & L) due to the "Hump" where the suspension ring is attached to the cross. This was normally either Wachter & Lange or Juncker, although I'm not saying it's either at this stage as other also used this set-up. OK not much help I admit but I'm sure others more conversant will chip in regards Alex
    6. Hi Jay, more than happy to concur with the comments made. I'm no expert so it could be an earlier 1960's version, the pin seems slightly shorter however than I would have expected IMHO for an early version although, not the same as those made as a collector's version. in the 80's/90's, which look like they fell out of a Christmas Cracker To answer your question, mine is as magnetic as they come. regards Alex K?
    7. I would say late 70's early 80's. Early versions aka 50/60's tended to have pin and clasp arrangements similar to original wartime versions made from left over stock, later versions introduced the pin and clasp arrangement as yours regards Alex Heres my version for comparison. mine seems to have a longer pin.?
    8. Hi Paul, I agree!! It seems that there are many more people who find this sort of thing both enjoyable and absorbing. In the end, as can be seen, there are some very talented members who try to bring "History back to life". Black and white images can be interesting, but when a full colour version "Hits you in the face", you suddenly realise that the subject lived their lives in full colour and not in shades of grey. I applaud all those who have contributed and hope they continue to do so. regards Alex
    9. 'Fraid So See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_George_Nicholas_Manley, although it's shows an EK1, I think he got the EK11
    10. I agree a bit of diversity, not seen one before. regards Alex
    11. Hi Stephan, those are two very nice images to have of your grandpa, and to be honest I would have guessed that they were true colour photo's, great colouring work, well done. regards Alex Another from me, Bernard Griese and Rudolf Pannier
    12. Just noticed it's got a metal cap cockarde, bit unusual that me thinks! Alex K
    13. A few more Luftwaffe ones Alex K
    14. I think he actually received the proper Iron Cross with non-com ribbon Alex
    15. Welcome, unfortunately IMHO a complete fake, suspension ring and loop totally wrong, perhaps better pictures but I don't hold out much hope regards Alex K
    16. Hi and welcome, been discussed numerous times before on GMIC, see the attached and scroll down. regards Alex K http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2602...l=Maidens+cross
    17. Hi Bob, I think I've said this before on the other threads, very nice hats, and those are some thick cap cords, (I like thick cap cords ) regards Alex. BTW who's the maker of the RK,?
    18. Germany and many germans have for many years had to live with the legacy of what a corrupt and genocidal regime perpertrated on millions of people from 1933-1945, and unfortunately it's an inescapable fact that anything which harks back to those days, such as the iron cross (Although we all know it's predates the NS regime by many years) will always be associated with that period and will therefore always be tainted Interestlingly attached is a link to an artical on the BBC news which suggestsfinally the past may well be "In the past" regards Alex K http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8065504.stm
    19. Hi Paul Thanks, glad you like it, want different tab colours!!? Anyone interested in the Royal Air Force? Sir Hugh Dowding and Sir Frank Whittle Regards Alex
    20. Hi Paul, image attached, hope it works! regards Alex
    21. just to keep this thread going generals Sepp Dietrich and Eberhard Kinzel
    22. Hi Paul, any idea which branch, ie flight, flak etc as that will effect the tabs and piping colour? Edit: spoke to soon with my brains in neutral, looking at the tabs is he musical? Jeff thanks, feel free to use the image, it's yours after all, I merely borrowed it. regards Alex
    23. Hi Jeff hope you don't mind but I don't normally get a chance to do US Generals, so I thought I'd "borrow" your B/W photo and have a go from scratch, here's my interpretation (Right or wrong), comments one way or the other appreciated regards Alex K
    24. Hi Paul It really depends on what it is and the complexity as not all images lend themselves to colourisation, I have many examples which just "Don't work". If suitable I could do the odd request, you would need to post an image for me to tell. regards Alex
    25. Thankyou, it was a bit of a challenge to try and capture all those gongs and ribbon bars in their truest natural colours. I also agree that the Hungarian officer posted by Peter of General Ferenc Kisbarnaki is an very nice example of what can be achieved. regards Alex One more from me a slightly dramatic portrait of Von Rundstedt
