    1. Nice original pair of medals to a Baden soldier who fought in 1870 war against France - everything ok with this medal bar - brian , do you have a "medal bar mine" somewhere digging out all these medal bars ............ ?!
    2. Hi Brian, don`t worry.... the combo is not too odd and absolutely no prblem with the bar.... The Ludwigs cross was given to bavarian soldiers too , not only civilians , it was given out to people THAT COULD NOT EXPECT TO GET ANOTHER BAVARIAN WAR / BRAVERY AWARD - what your two guys indeed did Of course you could get the Ludwigs cross during the war on a desk job and some months later a bravery award at the front after joining a new regiment.... that`s why you see it on bars with other bravery awards too...
    3. Hi Matt.... nice bar indeed but I think the combination of BZL and HOHX without any other help is not enough for a effective search...
    4. No........................ The device , the wreath with sword , ist the combattant sign for the honour legion medal below , but the ribbon is the ribbon of the Kyffhäusermedal (not on the bar) This device does not show NAVY , no no no .... and the navy honour cross is no navy honour cross , it is the cross of the Marinekorps Flandern , mostly (99,99%) worn by foot troops of the Marinecorps that were in Flandern in the trenches... no (only 0,01%) navy on ships I am at work at have no time for more detailed things now... will come back later. cheers Heiko
    5. N°1 is the Baden merit medal on the ribbon of the Carl Friedrich order - the order itself had the same ribbon but would make make really no sense here.... the medal had NO swords for ribbon bars normally. N°2 is the medal of the german honour legion with the wrong ribbon of the Kyffhäuser medal and the RIGHT device for "combattants" for the medal below. N°3 is completely right Looks old but makes not much sense with these mistakes - but it comes from a "everything goes" - era in the 1920s.... maybe a homemade bar with some stuff he have found ...?!
    6. Wow....... I always knew that I am from a very famous little town :P
    7. Brian...we had a cross posting.... two ribbons are wrong !!!
    8. Brian....two little problems.... N°1 is the wrong ribbon for the silesian eagle... the right one should be yellow with white stripes , yours looks like a Baden medal from ww1 only the swords are not common for that one... the second one is on the wrong ribbon too , your ribbon is for the Kyffhäuser medal.... think about the group again
    9. Could you please show the reverse.... ah.....and not to forget...... one from me too ;)
    10. I know this colour combination from Finland - but I don`t know if it makes sense in a french colonial group?
    11. Don`t think it was an officer.... the 70/71 medal and the Centenarmedal just say that he was active part of the war 1870/71 - not that he was in duty 1897 (just alive) or that he was an officer....and for shure he was no active soldier in ww1 - the Oldenburg order is a peacetime or CIVILIAN order and was probably received from his home state as an old civilian , same with the war aid cross (1916+) that he could have got as a factory owner , wood owner , teacher or every other profession that may have been important in aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnyyyyyyyyyyyyy way for the war 1914-18 (or maybe he had some money left.... )
    12. Yes it is....and as you can see it is even as a miniature a real beauty with a lot of wonderful details - one of the most beautiful imperial orders !!!
    13. Yes Vince... I remember that one.... and I had some for China and DSWA that were homemade in different styles , very interesting indeed...
    14. Wow.... really handmade , point for point... very cool !!!
    15. Very interesting..... wrong writing : LANGEMAK instead of LANGEMARK Could you put your bar on the scaner and zoom in just this clasp? Seems that it is really handmade at home.... of course it is not one of the clasps that was officially (inofficially) created for the Flanderncross...but we know some names of battles or places that are not originally created for a medal or a cross with clasps , often the vets made their own thing to show where they were in war...
    16. uiuiui.... a regulations killer ;-) could you please post a close-up of this never before seen private inofficial-inofficial clasp LANGEMARK on the Flanderncross...
