Wow , that was a find He is one of the few Swedish born Luftwaffe Officers that I know of , and one of the notes in his military file in Freiburg made me feel quite uneasy. He was marked as a convinced Nazi in November 1944 ..... " Ueberzeugter Nationalsozialist " hmm I wonder what happend to him after the war ? I says on the Swedish forum that he returned to Sweden in 1946... Fantastic Ribbon bar !! Christer

Found this photo framed in an internet auction in Sweden First I thought he was British so I posted in that forum , but memebers told me he was a US Major or Lt Col When I now search for the awards hes wearing I think he has a WW 1 medal with three citation stars Is that unusual ? and a Mexcian Border Service medal , and four more that I cant see (to dark pic) As the WW1 medal seem to be among the latest I suppose this Pic is from 1919-1920 ? Could anyone tell me some more about him .... Regards from sweden Christer

christerd replied to christerd's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
There was really a breast star to the first class but its extreme rare Only 11 Germans got the Liberty Cross with Swords and Breast star 1941 ..... Ernst Busch He had other Decorations Wilhelm Canaris Had other Decorations Waldemar Erfurth Had other Decorations Kurt Fricke Had other Decorations Rudolf Gercke No Match Hans Jeschonnek Had Romanian Awards Alfred Jodl No Match Günther Korten No Match Georg Lindemann No Match Felix Steiner No Match Kurt Zeitzler No Match But it is not " normal" to have a neck order on a ribbon bar , but since the owner was German maybe he did a " Weimar" Christer -

Finland My Finnish Collection 1918-1945
christerd replied to christerd's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Very Nice Alan !! It looks like he had Finnish Lion Order Commander , White Rose Commander and Liberty Cross 2nd class or first ? very unusual button on the ribbonbar and last the Civil Guard Cross I will look through my lists , but he has no 1918 medal so I think of an Staff officer in Finland 1941-44 , Gebirgs jäger ?? Wow , very interesting story Fantastic to read the story from document to Royal visit . Great find ! Christer -
I started looking through old dusty books for Wasa Orders and instantly found some interesting names .... For Example : Wilhelm Mauser who got a Knight Wasa Order in 1878 , yes Mauser who together with his brother made the Gewehr 71 and the same factory that made the famous Gewehr 98 who is like the grandfather of bolt action rifles today. You her from me again Christer

I only have 1911 on Heinrich Wambold but Heinrich Kehrhahn was listed September 12th 1908 . And Rick has a point , now I have to start with North Star and Wasa ... I must have something to do in the long dark autumn evenings in Sweden . If I find some more updates to this list I let you all know . Christer

The updated database is finished ! It took some time But now it contains 1062 names of Germans who got the Swedish Order of the Sword in different grades. I have two members who already said they want the new list , but I will be happy to send it to anyone who want a reserach tool , in most it have both First names and surnames , rank and state . It is in Excel format so its easy to handle. The first listed award is in 1836 and the last in June 1939 Just mail me or write in the thread and I send a copy . Sunny regards from Sweden Christer

This little beauty moved into my house a short time ago , not any super duper orders on it but a Lübeck Hansa Cross and that´s rather unusual. To bad he didn´t have some Hohenzollern or Schwarzburg then he maybe could be id But know I have ahhh 8000 suspects ? But still nice mini (and Yes Rick , it´s an Epson ) Christer

Here is the ribbon bar at home It is of the late 1930s design with tabs on the backside , but cant see that it has been messed with . Pass blacklight test of course and the ribbons looks to be same age. I suppose totally impossible to id but still a nice bar, here together with my only other OV ribbon bar , discussed in another thread and also impossible to Id.... Christer

I suppose the topic should be non Bavarian , because I dont think Bavaria had any Matrosen Ober Matrosen Artilleristen Ludwig Hinkel got a BMVK 3X in 1916... I always liked Typical State awards to other states soldiers and now I wonder if anyone could lead me in the right direction ? Was a Ober Matrosen Artillerist on a ship ? I know there was a Battleship named Bayern and that would be good reason to give him a BMVK 3X , or could he served in another land based unit with some Bavaria connection ? Christer
