    1. a question about this wonderful Order , when I was looking through my books for Germans with Swedish Sword Order I noticed that it was also the other way around That a lot of Swedish got German State Orders among them Order von Zähringen Löwen. For ex Commander 1 st class wo X was awarded 741 times 1866-1918 if I have the numbers right ? Does this number include Orders to foreigners ? any experts on B ZLO out there ? Christer
    2. And of course the backside of the Order, very nice enamel , almost like German ! Christer

    5. Strange, maybe they missed it ? MVO III , EK II , Bremen HK, Heilige Michael III ,Jub M mit Krone, Landwehr JubM , Landwehr DA II , SaO III, Lippe Ehk , Schwarzburg Ehk , Reuss Ehk Not bad without being fired at Many soldiers in the frontline did not get more than a EKII .... His medalbar must have looked nice
    6. Hi Peter , Congrats to the nice bars , I was interested but the price went through the roof The ribbon bar in post 3 shows exactly the awards to Frhr von Welser exept the Bremen Kreuz ? Can anyone confirm that von Welser did get a Bremen Kreuz ? He was not a Fighting officer , He was a High Staff "Ober Regirungs Rath" , I suppose a quite normal ribbon bar to such a person, with awards from a lot of different states. Christer
    7. The worst thing is when the Medal bars change hands two or three times from the original "bad" seller When they are quite good they could easily fool some collectors .... I belive saschav is right about the Ebay one .... Ps Good catch Peter ! I really loved they Bavarian Bar Christer

    11. Just before Christmas I bought a book with some more Photos of the Emergency landing of the Skua in 1940 Fascinating story , I hope that Rebecka find this forum again and can find some more info about her grandfather. First photo shows the two Britisch Flyers outside the home of the local priest , between Lt Wigginson and LAC King stands the Priest and his wife. The aeroplane itself had a normal (for the time) but sad story . It was stored some time and after the war it was sold as scrap.....

    16. It all started with me looking through my collection and found a couple of letters from 1914-1915 , since long time forgotten. They where sent from a Max Höfter in Mun Kol Abt 8 , and there I could start A search on Ancestry gave me Jackpot ! Max Höfter joined 7 Bayr FeldArt Rgt in 1910 as Einjahrfreiw August 1st he become Uoffz and in the end of September 1911 Offz Aspir In August 1912 he was promoted to Vize-Wachtmeister and in November 1914 he was Leutn dR At the end of war in August 1918 he was promoted to OberLeutnant dR He was awarded the EK II Aug 6th 1915 , BMVO IV x Aug 12th 1915 and EK I Oct 18 1918. He fought mostly at the Eastern front but also in Verdun and left the Army 31th Dec 1918 End of story ?..... No not quit , I kept on looking for Max Höfter and found him again, this time in a grave Max Höfter is buried in München after being killed at Petershausen April 28th 1945 He had then the rank of OberstLeutnant. So Max joinded the Wehrmacht and was killed during the last days of his second war. But what happened those last days in April 1945 in this area ? Petershausen in probably more known by its close neighbour Dachau who US troops liberated April 29 1945. I have no reason to belive that Max Höfter had anything to do with the camp, but I cant find anything written about fighting going on in this area at this date. Does anyone know what German forces that was in the area in late April 1945 ? A strange story and I will probably never get the answer .......... Christer

    23. I have some documents and awards to a Leutnant in Inf Rgt 128 WW 1 , he got the Wound badge in Gold 1918 for 5 wounds , and the story could have stopped there. But this guy was not an ordinary soldier he got into service in the second world war and in 1942 he was in hospital shotup again..... Now my question , would he been awarded a wound badge in black 1939 inspite that he had a gold one 1918 ?Is it possible to have wound badges from both wars ? Christer
