    1. Hi, what about this monster bar ? A Saschen Hero or just a "piece of junk" put together bar? All the best from Sweden (cold and snowing right now.....) Christer
    2. And one last pic, it is the same grave but some time has passed, a new grave has been arranged beyond this one and the words on the cross has beginning to fade away, maybe the widow travelled to France after the war and visited the grave? I like theese small simply groups because they tell a lot about the man who fight on the battlefields and the woman left behind. I wonder what became of Anton daughters? christer
    3. Just to sum the sad story up, here is a photo of the grave , seems to be rather short after the burial, new flowers and the words are easy to read. I suppose someone of his friends send it to the family to show where he was buried. only one of millions .....
    4. And the End !!! Anton Frick was killed by a "Granatvolltreffer" in 26th May 1917. He left his wife Elise and the two girls Johanna and Karoline. he was buried in France and I suppose it was some kind of war grave.
    5. Another Picture from Ravensburg , the officer sitting in the middle is a vet from 1870 I belive? He seems to have a row of medals, Anton is sitting to the officers right in the pic. But I was misstaken about the Rgt it is not 122 yet it says 123 on the shoulder boards. I suppose Anton in going to the Front in France soon after this. Christer
    6. Now we have reached Sept 1915 and Anton , with a cigar in hand is being photographed with his friends in Fusielier Rgt 122, at Ravensburg Looks like the war is far away for now.
    7. Another Photo of the family, and it?s definitive farewell, Anton in his great helmet with Rifle m/98 and bayonet m/98 Foto taken in Waldsee, not dated summer 1915? Anton is ready to join the great war and his clock is ticking on.....
    8. Time goes on, next pic isn?t dated but I guess winter 1914 ? Anton Frick, his wife and daugters , Anton in his new uniform, maybe farewell dinner? christer
    9. Thanks Hardy! Then here is a short and sad story about a soldier, father and cigar smoker . First picture is of Hes Wife Elise Frick and their two daughters, very blurry stamp but I think its 1913/14 all dressed up for the adventure.
    10. Thanks Komtur ! Wonderful Photo you got , now I really got to see how he looked. I only had rankliste from 1906 and then he was dead, and I did the mistake and looked for ordinarie EK II 1870 when he got a non fighting of course. Thanks again that solved the mystery with my somewhat wounded photo! I just love this forum, its always someone out there who has the answers All the best from sweden Christer
    11. Search the internet ! I have spend an Hour Googling And all I found was that he died 1905 and was the body physican of the Emperor??? Hmm , didnt leave much trace after him did he Christer

Happy Easter in advance from Christer in Sweden

    14. Hallo all, after a trip to Riga, Latvia I found this. OPW 1 + OPW 2 + Red Star + Red Star + Military merit + Lenin 100 year Victory + 1945-1965 + 1945-1975 + 1945-1985 + Kiev 1300 years Red Army 1948 + RA 1958 + RA 1968 + RA 1978 + Ls 20 year + LS 15 year Could anyone say anything about this guy? 15. Hallo all! Right now I am in Latvia, but when I return home and the medals have arrived I will post better pics. There is two Red cross ribbons on the bar so i assume that its the 2nd class and 3rd class Like Terminator I'll be back Christer
    16. 18. I will wait for more Saschen books ! Maybe some day I will find him, until then he will rest with all the other guys without names...... I wonder what he did in WW1 ? Christer
    19. Unusual Award-paper for Honor Cross What is so strange about this paper? Well its issued by the German Consulate in Apenrade ,Hmm to a Karl Hellweg in Sonderburg and he is to get an Honor cross for fighters , and hes military duty is shown in his "milit?rpass" so whats unusual about that? Sonderburg ! That?s in Denmark !! But in 1914-1918 Sonderburg belonged to Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) but after a public vote in 1920 it was decided that it would belong to Denmark. So this guy lived in Gemany 1918 and in Denmark 1935 but still got the Honorcross. Interesting, its the only paper to a Danish ( well, ex german) I seen Christer
    20. Often we discuss if the real loong bars from WW1 is real, but sometimes we can find pictures when people have theese looong ribbonbars Here is a old soldier with no less then 10 ! awards if I counted right and pic dated 1944? on the back with should eliminate most of the Weimar awards? Anyone who can read the blurry pic? I think he is a Doc? All the best from Sweden Christer
    21. Hi Daniel, it was the campaign medals I meant, China and South West Africa in this case Christer
