    1. Very attractive medals!! What does the 40 year medal look like? Is there a 50 year medal?
    2. Very eyecatching display Jon. You are amassing quite the headgear collection!
    3. I agree... Hard to believe that the war ended almost 90 years ago!! So much has come and gone since. I wonder how much he remembers of the war, 90 years later. I wonder what he did during the second world war. How many American and German vets are there? Here is the article translated. Louis of Cazenave, one of the two last ones "hairy" French, fighter of the First World War (1914-18), deceased Sunday, at the age of 110 years, one has learn with the ministry of the former fighters. It deceased Sunday morning to his residence of Brioude, in the high loire (centers is), specified the ministry, quoting the local prefecture. Been born October 16 1897, Louis of Cazenave was the most oldest person of the hairy survivors. Engaged in 1916, it had been part of the 5th Senegalese battalion of December 1916 to September 1917. In 1919, after the conflict end, it had become railroader. The last former fighter of the "big war" in life is Lazare Ponticelli, been born December 7 1897. It will have of the "solemn funerals of national reach", according to a taken decision in 2005 by the ex-pr?sident Jacques Chirac."
    4. Rich, Where do you see the thread(hopefully my eyes are not that bad). Paul
    5. That is one beautiful tunic!! Can you please make a close up of the eagle?
    6. Thanks Guys. I will take more images tomorrow. I will post a scan of the stitching behind the eagle. The collar liner buttons are the metal dish type and are painted white. The front buttons seem to be a cream colored glass type, similar to those seen on the Fliegerbluses. I will make more images of those as well. I am surprised that there were no LBA stamps though.
    7. My first drill tunic!! I have not seen too many of these around! Notice the partial NCO tress.
    8. Very nice pieces. Matching K98s are not so common anymore. They are not cheap either. Last I heard, they were 600 dollars and higher. This was a few years ago, so who knows now!
    9. ' No, I was talking about the LW Visor. The crown piping seems white.
    10. Maybe an officer candidate in the HG? The piping seems white, not silver.
    11. Just in today. A nice set won off ebay before Christmas! Amazing how crude some of these were. The piping and embroidery appear to be golden in color. I am thinking that this could be tarnished silver thread? The waffenfarbe is flight. I would like to see what you all have!! Lets see your un textbook tabs!!
    12. I know... I was checking out his site last night and noticed the same thing. I am surprised that he completely removed the catagory! I always enjoy looking at the Lenin award and was actually disappointed to see that he had none!
    13. Hello, Thank you for your reply! I did not know that the Hungarians used a similar system! Well, as you can see, the outter piping on the collar tab is broken green and silver colored cord. This places the wearer in the "Medium Grade Career" level. Most officer rankings were in the "Elevated Career Level"(silver piping cord) or "High Grade Career" (gold piping cord... rare at this level as well). The only possible careers for the wearer of this tab is: 1. Luftwaffe Secret Police 2. Luftwaffe Air Traffic Control Official(after 02Nov1940) 3. Luftwaffe Firefighting Official These are all very rare job descriptions to find insignia and uniforms for. Career levels are determined by the amount of formal education received by the Official. To read more about the Luftwaffe Administration Officials, please follow the below link. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18055
    14. A wonderful later war portrait of a LW Field Division NCO. This is the first Field Division Tuchrock I have seen!! Is there anything written on the reverse?
