    1. Congratulations Chris! That is a spectacular grouping. Was everyone attached to the unit at the time eligible for the 100 year medal? Was this authorized to be worn on the official medal bar?
    2. Is that last ribbon on the last bar a Hessian Bravery medal? I have not seen another TR bar with the Finnish Liberty cross 4th class. Can you please post the reverse side of that one?
    3. Now those are nice!!! I dont have a set of them yet! A beautiful set of High Grade Career Field Sonderfuhrer tabs!!
    4. The most Purple Hearts received by one person is eight. Six U.S. Army soldiers share that distinction: * Richard J. Buck - Four Purple Hearts in the Korean War and four in the Vietnam War * Robert T. Frederick - Eight Purple Hearts in World War II; also received two Distinguished Service Crosses * David H. Hackworth - Eight Purple Hearts in the Korean War and Vietnam War; also received two Distinguished Service Crosses and ten Silver Stars * Robert L. Howard - Eight Purple Hearts in the Vietnam War; also received the Medal of Honor * William L. Russell - Eight Purple Hearts in World War II; Silver Star * William Waugh - Eight Purple Hearts in the Vietnam War; also received the Silver Star. Per: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_Heart
    5. Hi Dan, The video is not showing up... :-(
    6. This is great stuff, Alfred! So, no mention of a Partisan medal in the research?
    7. Thanks for the reply, John. The top photo most accurately captures the nebenfarbe. It is most definitely golden brown, the second signals waffenfarbe. The man who originally wore this jacket must have been very small in stature. I doubt he was much taller than five feet, if even that!.
    8. I cannot believe that it has already been that long!! Where has the time gone! I will be old soon, at this rate!
    9. For the Army and the Air Force, each Purple Heart awarded after the first is noted with the application of a Bronze Oak Leave Cluster. For the Marines, Coast Guard, and Navy, a gold star is used for each sequential award, until the sixth. Upon the sixth award of the medal, the four gold stars are replaced by a single silver star(which represents five awards).
    10. How many does Lord Ashcan have? Are they viewable by the public, if even in the form of photographs?
    11. Just in today!! A field grade ranking tunic for a Luftwaffe Signals Official! This is the first such tunic I have ever seen. This particular tunic is a private purchase piece(as are all of the Officer Level Officials tunics I have ever handled). The upper pocket flaps are sewn down at the corners. From everything that I have read, these men worked in Research and Development for "state of the art" transmission equipment, as well as other very specialized roles. Some examples could be developing, perfecting, and operation of navigation systems on remote controlled weapons, radar, codes, and etc. If anyone has any thing to add, I would be most appreciative!! I look forward to reading your comments.
    12. We are all friends here. Lets cool off and take things down a notch. As someone who does not know anything about shields, I want to see this topic discussed objectively. Thanks guys...
    13. Feldwebel of the Lower Grade Career path. Notice the lack of the silver cording that is seen in the photo of the Meduim Career Obertfeldwebel. Some possible job descriptions are: Administrative (non technical) officials, General Administrative Services, Construction Administrative Service, Agricultural Service, Surveying Service, Technical Machine Service, Technical Electrical Service, and Craftman's Service at clothing depots added.
    14. Here is another Elevated Career Level Oberfeldwebel shoulder board for a: Photo Service, Motor Transport Service, Ordnance Service, Weapons and Ammunition Service, Technical Aircraft Service, Cartographic Service Lithographic Service, or Other misc Craftsmen
    15. I have just received this beauty today. It is a single board for an Elevated Career Level Oberfeldwebel Notice the interwoven silver colored center cord. This is what separates this board from one used by a member of the same rank in the Lower Career Level. Notice the red nebenfarbe. The Branch color(Waffenfarbe) is shown in the lower layer. All Administrative Officials had the dark green waffenfarbe. Some possible job descriptions are: Administrative (non technical) officials, General Administrative Services, Construction Administrative Service, Agricultural Service, Surveying Service, Technical Machine Service, Technical Electrical Service, and Craftman's Service at clothing depots added.
    16. Finally, the set is in the mail! I can hardly wait until it's arrival!
