    1. Yet another photo without a name needs help, this time a former seeflieger dressed in WWII water police uniform with some interesting badges shown, including a navy pilot commemorative badge and a navy wound badge. Again no signature on the back but a photographer stamp. Please share your comments.
    2. I see id is very difficult when there is no trace of signature or any writing on the photo, hopefully one day some clue will turn up from other photo source.
    3. Here is a WWII photo of another seeflieger dressed in NSFK outfit, any possible id?
    4. So the name is Reinhard Weber, thank you guys for the quick id. Cheers!
    5. Here is another id in question, the autograph reads R. Weber, Erfurt, Weihnachten 1918. Searching for any information on this guy here. The signature
    6. Not any more, thanks for the clarification 👍 Now the remaining question is which one in the photo is Starke. My wild guess is the man on the left since he is wearing both 1st and 2nd class of EK which is according to the database. The man next to him seems wearing a land-flieger badge which is different from Starke's badge. To be confirmed.
    7. Hi Alex, that was the first thing I did, the only one named Starke in the personal list is Rudolf Starke, I wasn't sure it's the same guy. Great website by the way.
    8. There're two officers in this photo, one of them is Lt.z.S. Rolf Starke, as signed in the back. Does anyone know which one is Starke? and what is his curriculum?
    9. Thank you for the help. Yes I assumed he was in Freikorps as well. Almost forgot that the seller mentioned the photo was part of a photo group connected to SMS GOEBEN, the soldier probably served on that ship. Does it help to nail down a few names?
    10. Only one soldier in the photo. I have another photo of him without any information on the back. A sea-flieger, he ended up in one of the Schiffsstammdivisions after war as indicated by his Mützenband. I was hoping to find out some clue who this guy is, pity.
    11. Something like this one? There were three crosses offered in the auction including this one and the two I posted, all with different swords and look like the swords are soldered on. For sure there're variants it seems.
    12. Chuck, thank you for the information, I'll have a look in the book. I hope the crosses are good.
    13. Two pieces of Verdienstkreuz vom weißen Falken with SWORD were sold in an auction some weeks ago. Never paid much attention to this order before but I don't recall seeing any example with swords, are these original and how rare are they?
    14. Not really, I've been waiting for a decent pair of Leopold and Frederick orders in order to start the project...
    15. A navy observer badge and a commemorative badge were sold on ebay last night. They seem to match known examples from Meybauer and Schaper, I got a feeling that they might belonged to the same individual. Anyway please share what you think. Observer badge Commemorative badge.
    16. I believe the bar had MVO, Hindy cross, Red Cross medal and service cross missing and restored, you can see the sloppy mounting work on these ones compare to the rest of medals on this bar. Nevertheless an interesting medal bar with Prussian, Bavarian, Wurttemberg and Austrian specimens. Congratulations.
    17. I understand what you said but we need more and solid prove to conclude BB&Co product is an official award by Ottoman government, this is a big deal. By solid prove I meant some sort of purchase order designated to this company or some government record stating that. Concerning the set from the Prussian general unfortunately we don't know what was in the red envelope when he received it 100 years ago. There're several possibilities including that he might have received a Turkish made star together with this envelope and later purchased the BB&Co... many have done the same I believe especially the foreign ones stationed in Turkey who should have received onsite the official award in red envelope.
    18. Yes BB&Co produced TWMs before the end of war. IMO the red envelopes(both the squary and trapezoidal version) were issued for the Turkish made stars.
    19. Completely agree. We're not discussing about identification of maker or production period of any particular TWM here, but rather on a very high level how TWMs from different time period should be called knowing that they're not Turkish made award pieces. Very straightforward. We all know the foreigners were indeed awarded for TWMs and majority(if not all) of them were not handed out Turkish made stars, they had to Privately Purchase their own star that was produced and sold by local maker, during and after the war. I haven't seen any proof so far but anyhow if any foreign made TWMs were ordered and handed out by the Turkish or foreign governments, then they should be considered official award TWMs.
