    1. I'd tend to agree with Rick here. And also agree that it appears the cross is silver with a bit of tarnish. Would still like to see the front to see if it matches the markings on the back. Jacques might be invited to comment on this one as well - he has a keen eye for Spanish Crosses.
    2. A long shot, but perhaps it's a gold cross that's been heavily cleaned or polished down to the sliver base?
    3. Wonderful example with superb 'character'. Thanks for posting it (again).
    4. Beautiful visors Bob. Love the small eagle - would that be an earlier cap than the other?
    5. Very nice trio Francois. I guess the cut out between the legs was just the finisher's choice to do so on a particular day, and not on another day?
    6. Welcome Tianvorperis. Can you post a few detailed photos (front & back) of your cross? That would help determine value and authenticity. I would recommend posting them in the "Valuation" forum towards the top of the GMIC home page, or in the "Spanish Civil War" forum a little further down the home page from this forum. Kind regards.
    7. Paul, it's a current flyer I received last week. At the last SOS I signed up to receive these to keep an eye on the repro market. I found the spangen description unusual for RR since he doesn't usually get this close to deceptive marketing of his items. RR toll-free order line (US & Canada) 1-800-786-6210.
    8. Rex Reddick deals openly in repro stuff (hats, daggers, uniform badges and accessories, flags, etc., etc.). His item descriptions seldom try to deceive (but sometimes come close - see the Iron Cross forum for my post there). He always has a big display towards the front of the SOS, and you can sign up to receive his slick, color flyers and catalogs. I do so to keep an eye on the repro business. Most of his wares wouldn't fool many, however some novice collectors have been 'had' when items are passed through third-parties.
    9. Received my latest Rex Reddick flyer in the mail, and he's advertising "Old Stock" EK1 spangen. He cleverly avoids saying they're authentic period pieces (which anyone knowing RR and noting the price would know better). Just thought I'd share for others to beware.
    10. Heads up: Rex Reddick has added LW officer colar tabs to his line of repro militaria. These probably wouldnt fool the experienced collector, but "look-the-other-way" dealers will no doubt be stocking these to hook novices.
    11. Indeed Jacques - that's another one I must find! Stay safe in Kaboul
    12. Steven Previteria's (sp?) Combat Badges of the TR, Vol 1, has KM badges in it (color, large-format, fronts & backs).
    13. A wonderful selection - thanks for sharing them. The young girl from Marseille looks like she would've been good company for the evening.
    14. Beautifully done. Any idea why it was painted on ivory?
    15. What size is the portrait?
    16. Prior to the outbreak of WWII, many Legion Condor vets wore their Spanish medals from the Civil War ahead of their German-issued awards. Granted, mounting errors were made by the firms building the medal/ribbon bars, but there's pleanty of period photo evidence to show this was done.
    17. Thank you Dolfek. Yes, a Medalla Militar from the Civil War period is something I'm looking for...
    18. I know this is an old thread, but I just found one of these so I thought I'd share it...
