    1. Thanks for the update. The manner in which the collection was housed back then was quite remarkable, with priceless artefacts literally piled into closets.
    2. Sascha, I do remember this Nataliyaa seller from some years ago. I think it is not improbable that some of the medals on this bar originate from the 'club'.
    3. Good that this topic has been revived. Does anyone know what actually remains on display at Huis Doorn these days? I saw a video of the collection back in the '80's which was quite astonishing.
    4. I'm not an EK collector per se, but I do have a few kicking around. The cross in the OP I think is absolutely genuine, and in superb condition. And let's not forget the role 'Graf' Klenau played in the purveying of good fakes BITD.
    5. Also, ich habe in Prinzip nichts gegen ein Gespraech was auf Deutsch (oder Bayerisch) gefuehrt wird, aber die meisten Mitglieder sprechen eher kein Deutsch.
    6. Yes, marked examples are not common. And Sascha is correct regarding the gold content. I've always liked this decoration.
    7. I would also guess Bohemia. I have a Freimaurerbecher from the same period which also has incredible decoration.
    8. No, the body of knowledge today shows that awarded examples of the BMVO3mS conform to certain standards, regardless of what auction houses are doing.
    9. I have delved into the subject of who made the BMVO3's, and I would agree with Sascha that the piece shown here is a 4th class, possible 'aufgewertet' at some point, which was done frequently.
    10. Thanks for that, I somehow missed this auction which was of some significance.
    11. I can honestly recommend doing business with Barry over at emedals in Toronto. I have purchased material from him many years ago which turned out to be good quality fakes, and he without reservation took them back and 'made it right'.
    12. Unfortunately all these auction houses, deliberately or otherwise, are purveyors of fakes, all of them. I have dealt with many in Germany, England and elsewhere and have been the victim of junk on some occasions. Right now I am trying to get DNW to pull a Prussian Gunner Badge from its latest auction, as it is a fake. I also have pretty much given up on collecting Imperial material, as the fakers, as evidenced by this thread, are zooming in on this area more and more, and the level of paranoia necessary to collect is ruining the fun.
    13. Very nice, didn't notice that one on fleabay. I think it is a native Badener and the last decoration could be something from Braunschweig.
    14. Holy crap, I wouldn't mind that thing for my coin collection.
