    1. Good to know. This latest assortment runs the gamut from OK to very good. I think someone in 'die Heimat' needs to deal with this character.
    2. Mike, unfortunately these badges are probably the worst collecting minefield that exists. I have collected these for forty years and the number of genuine badges out there is pretty small, especially for the Bavarian and Naval aviator variants. Extreme closeups of both obverse and reverse would be great.
    3. Thanks for taking the time to translate. Major Schoener was also wounded in 1918, so even at his age he certainly wasn't flying a desk. Bavarian Infantry Regiment 15 was titled 'Koenig Friedrich August von Sachsen', so I'm guessing this explains the award of the SAO1mS.
    4. I was just posting this material on another forum, and thought there might be some interest here as well. I acquired this interesting father-son group off Fleabay some years ago, and thought it so interesting that I wanted to preserve it as a group. The father, whose medals are on the lower row of the frame, was Major Ludwig Schoener, CO of the 15th Bavarian Infantry Regiment, while the upper group belonged to his son, Leutnant Richard Schoener of the 3rd Bavarian Foot Artillery Regiment. I find the inscription, written by Richard in 1966, of particular interest, as it states that these medals were earned through terrible sacrifice and should be treated with respect.
    5. Very nice Stock, I also collect these, and have my own from 1979 with many Stocknageln.
    6. Nice converted Feldschnalle, it seems the Bavarians were almost as thrifty as the Prussians.....
    7. Hi Lubo, Gleichfalls! I agree with you on the Bavarian, it would take more detailed photos to make a final declaration.
    8. I saw a similar piece recently on another forum, I believe with a bronze core.
    9. I'm not sure on the Austrian one either, but given the huge amount of fakery with these, odds are it is fake as well.
    10. I agree with Alex, a super looking example which is the closest you'll probably get to a genuine one.
    11. I like the observer badge. The pilot badge marked 800 bears some resemblance to the square punch maker's material, but the details look soft and the reverse is a bit different. Not sure if this is due to the photos. The engraved pilot badge is fake. The Bavarian pilot badge has an outside chance of being an interwar piece. The Meybauer Flyer's Commemorative is IMHO not genuine.
    12. As Alex stated, we need better pictures, preferably the right way round, to make determinations. I believe a couple of the badges are good.
    13. Yes, a beautiful estate which has fortunately survived the ravages of time. Deutschritter, I will get a better photo of those notes from Ludvigsen.
    14. Thanks for those images. I've been watching that Fire Cross, as I had a genuine one recently. It is a very good, and dangerous fake.
