    1. Eberhard was reactivated in 1939, and subsequently joined the police in Koenigsberg, East Prussia, where he was living with his family. Here he is with comrades, late 1944.
    2. Here is his Treue dem Regiment cross, on the EK ribbon. Note the unusual privately made spange for Dixmuiden.
    3. Here are his wound badges, awarded for being severely wounded at Dixmude, November 1914. This excused him from any further military service in WW 1.
    4. Here is his Grossordensspange, with the EK 2 awarded November 1914 for gallantry at the first battle of Ypres.
    5. Here are the three brothers, Eberhard, Albrecht and Wolfgang, photographed outside their home on Paulsenn Strasse, first week of August, 1914. All three served in the same regiment, the 203rd reserve, all three were wounded and won the Iron Cross, and all survived the war.
    6. Gentlemen, I thought this group belonging to my grandfather might be of interest. His name was Eberhard Erich Richard Ochs, born March 12, 1895 in Berlin-Friedenau as the second son of Imperial Architect Paul Ochs and his wife Helene geb. Simeon. He volunteered for service with the 5th Foot Guards Regiment in Spandau, along with his two brothers, in the first week of the war.
    7. Very cool items, and the safety pin is a period item as well, I have one just like it.
    8. As my father used to say, "Greed and avarice will be the downfall of humanity". Having quoted him thus, I still wish others success in the noble pursuit of preserving history.
    9. Good luck with the reunification of the kettchen with the Grossordensspange, a very worthy undertaking and a really spectacular grouping. GFM von Mackensen was always one of my personal favorites, and his sons are equally interesting.
    10. Tim, doesn't the Steve French badge have the same maker mark as the badge posted by Gor?
    11. That clip dates to the early 90's, and the FW belonged to JG 54 and was lost on a mission from Siverskaja airfield. Apparently there is alot of controversy about the restoration of this plane, with one group wanting it left in "as is" condition, while the other group supports the complete restoration which has been ongoing with this aircraft. Also, the remains of the pilot were supposedly found in the cockpit, and the bones were buried nearby, while personal effects were removed by local people.
    12. Very nice set. I take it you know the recipient? A member of the torpedo boats, perhaps?
    13. I like it. "Richthofen climbing into his fighter before attaining his 52nd victory in the air".
    14. Really nice and unusual document. It would be nice to find out about Flieger Barth. Is that a genuine von Hoeppner signature?
    15. Great items, Pat. BTW Uetersen is now home of the Luftwaffe Museum, with quite a collection of rare items.
    16. I had an opportunity to buy a cased PLM with Oakleaves set twenty five years ago for 3500.00, a small fortune at that time. Now I'm kicking myself....
    17. I recently purchased a large autograph collection from Germany, with many Kriegsmarine photos. One is a postcard of Bismarck, signed by a number of the survivors.
    18. Gordon, that's a really great story, and a fabulous gesture on your part to find a badge for this gentleman. Coincidentally, today I was watching a DVD of Das Boot, which really gives a vivid impression of life for these brave men. Incidentally, wasn't HMS Walker also responsible for capturing Otto Kretschmer?
    19. You're right, the scan is a little fuzzy. Also, if I try to post a larger image, I'm over the limit.
    20. Gentlemen, If anyone can provide biographical info on the following, it would be appreciated: C. Dughera F. Baslini
    21. Gentlemen, Here is an unpublished photo taken early in 1918 of Bombengeschwader 7. Interesting group of uniforms on display. Can anyone find the redoubtable CO, Hauptmann Hermann Kastner? My uncle, Vizefeldwebel Albrecht Ochs, is standing third from left.
