Heer Collar Tabs
Sprocket replied to storage133's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
I'm not well-versed in Allgemeine-SS but these don't look right to me... Bob -
The Waffen-SS officer mentioned by Gordon was on the staff at Hitler's Headquarters (name was Krause) that is wearing the Narvik Shield and a Destroyer Badge (on his black panzer uniform?). But there were many men drafted into the Army and Waffen-SS from the Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine. I have a SS-Soldbuch and Wehrpass from a man that was in Luftwaffe radio communications. He ended up in SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 23 "Norge" and earned the Iron Cross 2nd Class, the Panzer Assault Badge in Bronze and the Wound Badge in Black. He was KIA. Reinhard Heydrich flew with the Luftwaffe in combat. Some of these badges on these personalities were actually earned and not given tit-for-tat. Bob

Kriegsmarine E-Boat
Sprocket replied to nesredep's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Research, Documentation & Photographs
I know this guy who owns Korvettenkapitan Klaus Feldt's Knight's Cross. He was an Oakleaves recipient in E-Boats and was one of about 8 awarded the E-Boat Badge in Diamonds. This is a photo of Feldt and his Knight's Cross as seen on www.ww2awards.com. Bob -
A number of years ago I was putting together a package for aviation artist Robert Taylor to do a painting of the capture of the U-505. I had rounded up Hans Goebeler, plus one other crewman, and several of the U.S. crew from the boarding party. It would have been a wonderful painting, and subsequent limited-editioned print, but in the end the publisher turned it down because many years before somebody did a POSTER of it. I know that Robert could have outdone a poster any day... now these men are all but passed on. I miss seeing Hans at militaria shows... he was a real gentleman. Bob

Well I collect Wehrmacht uniforms (armed forces) so this is my first Army one and I think it's a great start. Of course it will be awhile before I actually see it. Here is the description as written by Bill Shea: "U-087 Combat Panzer Outfit for Oberfeldwebel It has been a very long time since I've been able to buy what I feel was a three-piece Panzer set that I believe came from the same person. It only takes one look to figure out that: a) this is real, and b) these pieces have always been together. They show absolute consistent use and wear. Even the sizes make sense. I can picture this decorated Sergeant as a tall lanky individual that wore this outfit for a long time. The used overseas cap still retains the correctly applied pink waffenfarbe. The pinch in the top of the fold of the cap is kept in place with a safety pin that has been on there since "day one". Interestingly, it also utilized the green backed cockade observed on early caps. I believe he wore this cap from his first days of service until late in the conflict. The tunic, with its slip-on boards for the rank of Oberfeldwebel (with one pip), retain the earlier shiny tressing. The nicely applied collar tabs with early tomback skulls are machine applied. The same goes for the handsome grey bevo breast eagle. This type first appeared in 1941 and so the other components of the tunic and overseas cap are still in sync with this configuration. This desirable wrapper has two sets of loops for combat awards. I'd speculate these are for Panzer Assault and a First Class Iron Cross. The rayon liner is marked with the size marks, but I cannot make them out. The very rarely encountered black wool panzer pants still have the ties at the bottom of the tapered legs. This is a textbook example with size and issue stamps which are hard to make out. If you are looking for a mint example, this is not going to be for you. If you seek a nice salty example with light to moderate wear and a few repairs here and there, as worn by a battle hardened Panzer guy, then please give this set some serious consideration."

Hey guys... I just put this on layaway this week... this is an early and well worn Army black panzer uniform (3-piece set including jacket, trousers and overseas cap) belonging to an Oberfeldwebel. It has an EK2 ribbon in the buttonhole and loops for two badges. The cap has the pink soutache and the cockade is on a green backing (early). What do y'all think of this? Bob

All, Here is Peter's reply to my email about this ribbon bar: "Thank you! -Will contact the buyer to get it returned to me. -Will add the info to my data base so I don't miss it again. Very much appreciated Pete" Peter is very open to collectors contacting him and informing him that something on his website is not correct. This ribbon bar was sold but he will get it back, refund the buyer and work it out with the consignee. I have faith in Peter. Bob

I have found Peter Whamond very responsive to questioning anything on his site. He sells on consignment so this stuff is not his personal collection. And he is usually pretty good. If he's not sure he sends photos to experts that can vett it. But occasionally he misses... I notified him and you can bet it will be history after he gets my email. Bob

Awesome police collection, Gary! I only have two polizei tunics with matching officer service caps. I also have a police officer buckle on a black leather belt, an enlisted buckle on black leather belt, and police officer on SS brocade belt. I also have the brocade cross strap with black leather cartouche with aluminum police eagle. And I have a schutzpolizei service cap that has been upgraded to officer. I want to replace the officer chin cords and restore it as enlisted and then find a really nice NCO tunic to go with it. I also have a medal bar with matching ribbon with a 25-Year Polizei Long Service Medal. I'll post some here... Here is the Schutzpolizei Officer Service Cap (Bill Shea Photo).
