OK, he is Army Service Corps, a Private (Pte) on the 1914-15 Star and Driver (DVR) on the other two. The 01743/T2-SR-01743 is his regimental number, but the "T2-SR"??? The ASC abbreviations will make strong men weep, and/or run to their reference materials. You should be able to find a card for him online from the National Archives at Kew, but I'll let others, more intimate with that process address (all the cards for Indians were thrown out years ago, so I am spared those sources ).

They are uncommon but unresearchable. I thought I had found one for a foreign friend who very badly wants one, but the deal has just now fallen through.

The British medal has no clasps and is of totally different design. This is the US medal. Can someone move it.

One of the major New Delhi military tailors just closed after the death of the father of the family/shop after some 80+ years (three generations) in the trade. I recall that he had had a large wall display of the various pre-1947 Indian Army flashes (they aren't in use today, of course), as they'd apparently always been confusing. I might ask his son what became of it (I never bothered more than a passing glance myself), but as it is Indian Army (not British Army in India) it may be of little interest here.

Hi Tang Si. I have one like that. It is a legitimate Type 2 badge (escapee unnumberd from the Central Bank), fraudulently named by one of the Ulanbaatar dealers (sloppy numbering and in a very wrong number range for a type 2). An interesting unissued badge turned into no more than a place-filler through clums7y faking efforts. Though I would rather see the fakers be clumsy than skilled!

This surely is an ugly dog, Eric. I can't find anything even remotely similar in Cabral's book, but as we know that is less than perfect. Ansent any confirmation from the wise folks here (assuming they are still about -- a lot of us seem to have vanished?), I'd avoid this with some care. Maybe the same folks who are churning outr PRC obscene fantasies have expanded into DPRK?

Why not just give everyone who ever put on a uniform 10 or 12 medals, from day one, and stop all other awards. Would that make the whiners happy??
