    1. So another Gonchigiyn Bumtsend on the left. Is that a second signature next to his?
    2. Ok, Finally got my docs out and made pictures of the signatures. Do I understand it correctly that there are usually 2 signatures on one doc? So let's precise TOP and BOTTOM, as to make sure we're all talking about the same thing here. Do we actually know who signed these docs: TOP president and BOTTOM Defence Minister? Jan So this one is Gonchigiyn Bumtsend on the left. Is that a second signature next to his? PS: Will add relevant dates later.
    3. Notre Dame de Lourdes, is the right answer. Usually you can find these with an metal bar on the ribbon indicating the year of the pilgrimage. Jan
    4. From 1856 to 1913 205336 St George crosses 4th class were awarded. In 1913 they started renumbering the crosses from 1, engraving"N?" in front of the number to distinguish them from the older ones. the problem is that this was only possible for the crosses up to n?99999, since there is not enough room on the cross arms to put 3 numbers + "N?". So it is hard to distinguish the old crosses from the new ones for the number range of 100000 to 205336. So it is possible that this is actually a preWWI St George cross, maybe even awarded for the Russo-Japanese war. Logically the price for such a cross would be much higher than for a WWI cross. Jan
    5. Congratulations Ed, good to see some interesting stuff is still to be found Jan
    6. It is classified under POLICE in Battushig = F14 Jan
    7. The red banner group seems to have been sold already. Does anyone have a pic? Jan
    8. Thanks for showing these Ed. That inscribed cross is a real beauty. And a picture always brings a group to life. Too bad these imperial items are so expensive, otherwise I would readily go down that slippery slope. Best regards Jan
    9. I'd say the ribbons are probably a honorary labour medal and maybe an OPS. Though as happened before, I might be very wrong Jan
    10. Yes, still around, though nothing new to show nor any new info to offer, alas Jan
    11. Hi Ed, That seems to be same insignia the belgian armoured cars regiment that fought in Russia during WWI wore. They wore a blend of Belgian uniforms with Russian insignias. The full name of the Regiment was the "Corps des Autos Canons Mitrailleuses" (ACM) or "Car-canon-machine gun corps" Best regards Jan PS sorry for the bad pic, but it's all I have
    12. I'm sure you know your source well, so I'm not worried. But a hint of caution to the other collectors, these ribbons are not so hard to find, so a greedy dealer could easily "create" these himself to make an extra buck on these "rare" pieces. Jan
    13. Wonderful group Ed, and the pictures add even more character to it. Now where is that "green-with-envy-smiley" when you need it Congratulations Ed, another nice piece of history Jan
    14. If you go to the Belgian telephone directory website (www.wittegids.be) and fill in his family name in the "Wie zoek je?"-field and "Belgi?" in the "Waar?"-field, you will find that only 11 people in Belgium go by that family name. Maybe you can write them a letter? Jan
    15. Pictures would be great. I think it's especially interesting to see how Tsedenbal's Star is so much more soviet than Choibalsan's. I have a pic somewhere of a Soviet Marshall star, let me look, so we can compare the soviet one to Tsedenbal's Best regards Jan
    16. Very impressive designs. Thank you for posting them, I very much enjoy looking at these. Jan
    17. Gentlemen, would you be so kind as to resolve this affair through mail or PM. Jan
    18. It is indeed a first type, which are fairly rare and usually very expensive. But you have to be careful because these have been copied. Jan
    19. Just click this link in Post #3: "Hendrik's Medal Corner"
    20. Well done, Hendrik. Another one to put on the "need-to-get" list Best regards Jan
    21. I believe the deafening silence is mostly due to the fact that there already is an enormous amount of information on there. No use in posting an 732th Polar star or a 1234th herders' badge, (lovely as they may be) unless there is some interesting information to go with them. Research would surely liven up a bit the sub forum. Although I'm afraid that, seeing most orders given after 1945 are long service awards, they will not provide very riveting citations. Jan
    22. Hi Guys, I have this Grand Orient de France Jewel in the for sale section. Have a look at it !! Link: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18564 Best regards Jan
