    1. Better pictures would really help but I like the cross. I am not sure about the spange. Even with great pictures I have a tough time telling a good one from a bad one. The spangen were awarded seperately. The cross in ww1 the spange in ww2. However I would bet that a replacement cross and spange could probably be orderd as a private purchase item. I have no proof of this but it would just make sence. I really like these combinations. Here is one of mine-------
    2. Sorry to say it is fake. There have been a rash of fake 1870s showing up on ebay with this lopsided crown.
    3. Here is an old collectors card showing the awarding of the Maidens cross and the Order of Louise.
    4. Very, Very BAD fake !!!!!!!!!! This style of 1870 can be found on ebay in several different configurations. Usually as a pin back marked Deschler and son. However it can be found with different makers marks. This particular cross jumps out as fake right away because it is a screwback. As far as I know there are NO 1870 Ek1 screwback crosses. Next --If you look at the screwback itself, it is RZM stamped. There are no screwbacks (even in 1939) marked "RZM" Even in pin back form these fakes are easy to spot by the style of the numbers in the 1870 date.
    5. That miniature early style spange is GREAT
    6. Micha, Another wonderfull cross. Congratulations Ekhunter I think there is one known variation. Some of the KMST slide backs have the makers marks stamped into the cross while on others the makers mark and DRGM is raised. Here is a picture of mine with the raised makers mark.
    7. Micha, I like the cross. The details look good and the patina looks right but I am not convinced of the Godet stamp. It is hard to make out from the photo But I have not seen one like it before. When I have seen the Godet stamped directly into the cross and not on the pin, it is in an inset box. Just for the record--the one pictured below is a full sized 1870 but it does illustrate what I am trying to describe.
    8. My latest beauty. A double screw post, large disc Ek1.
    9. I have always thought that "FR" and "Fr" were two different makers.
    10. My understanding was that these are in the same catagory and (aproximate) time as the Jubilee crosses.
    11. Hi Guys, Here is an update on my quest to try to figure out this Ek2. There have been 2 more of these oversized 1870 Ek2s show up in the last year. One from a member over at WAF and also one posted here by Eric "monfort1" just resently. I put together an email To Detlev showing links to this thread and to all of the other threads discussing these particular crosses. His reply to me was that the wideframed 1870 is a good variation made post 1900 and sold as a private purchase item. ( these were NOT 1871-1873 issue pieces ) I thought this might be interesting to some of you. Here is a link that leads to Eric's cross-- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4965&hl=
    12. As I mentioned to you over at WAF. I have one of these crosses and am still really unsure about it. I posted mine here last year and this is the responce I got------- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4965&hl=1870
    13. Thanks again for all of the help and nice comments.
    14. Thanks VERY MUCH for your help I found it at a gun show a couple years ago. Paid $175
    15. I believe this to be an early army NCO sword. Because this is unmaked, is it just one of the many mass produced factory swords? Any info you might be able to give me would be great. Any idea of value. Thanks for your help. Greg
    16. The only problems with this sword is the retaining snap is missing that holds the sword in the sheath and there is a small crack aprox 1/2 inch long in the ray skin.
    17. Here is another Katana for review. It is in very good condition with only a small dark stain to the blade near to where the handle is mounted. It has a brown leather covered wood sheath. It is COMPLETELY unmarked. no numbers, stamps, or lettering.
